I wouldn't. - MJL
I feel like they value that type of player. Lemieux would be cheaper and on a shorter contract. Just DO NOT want both. |

Yes, you did state that he was not a good prospect. You reinforce the same pattern here with Frost can't even make the 1 PP unit of a team with the worst PP in the league. With Tippet, it was another "can't make " post of he can't make the regular roster. You were ripping the trade. - MJL
Of course I ripped the trade at the time, I didn't have all the facts since they were not made public until days later. Everyone ripped the trade when it was first announced. Many on here were ripping Fletcher for it also. Given what other players were getting from teams, the Flyers should have got a lot more for Giroux, but given what Giroux did its amazing Fletcher got what he got.
Tortorella hasn't developed anyone. It's interesting that in your eyes when a player is playing well, Tortorella gets the creidit. When a player is playing poorly, it's all on the player and Tortorella gets no blame. - MJL
Wait ... are you saying Frost is playing poorly? Even I have never said Frost has played poorly. I actually think he has also developed this season under Torts, so actually you should be giving Torts a ton of credit right now. |

Cates has exceeded my expectations for him this year. I did not view him as a center before the season started though.
Tippett has exceeded my expectations for him. I was not very high on him when the season started though. He has finished more this year. Hopefully he can continue to improve on that in the next few seasons.
I said at the beginning of the year that if Frost finished the season injury free and with 40+ points all while playing center night in and night out, I would be happy with that. He is on pace to reach all of those goals.
All three are proving they are NHL level contributors. That is what this season was supposed to be about. |

That is false. The facts were well known well in advance. EVERYONE but you apparently did know that Giroux had a NMC and he wanted to go to Florida. EVERYONE but you knew they weren't getting Newhook or Lundell. EVERYONE knew when the trade was made that Tippett was a strong prospect that just needed ice time and an opportunity. Same with Frost actually when you were labeling him an AHL player. You were told all of this well in advance, but you refused to listen.

This is along the same lines of your misread on Tortorella's various press conference or when you said that because the Flyers were giving the STH a few free games that everyone is getting traded? You read what you want see instead of what is actually there.
Tortorella, hands down the Jack Adams award winner!!!!! |

You ripped the trade based on blaming Giroux for exercising his bargained right |

The issue with Cates is not Cates. He's being played out of position and is a black hole on offense at 5 on 5. The coach complains about looking for offense yet his coaching move has damaged the team offensively. He refuses to put the best line the team could have potentially on the ice of Cates/Frost/Tippett. |

He let Hayes out of winger jail out of necessity.
Eventually he'll be desperate enough to pull the plug on the Cates at C experiment, too. |
