Why did I assume that you guys would know which stats were the relevant ones lol...
Goals against per 60:
Tipp 3.17
Frost 2.72
Expected goals against per 60:
Tipp 2.64
Frost 2.6
Scoring chances against per 60:
Tipp 29.13
Frost 29.06
Giveaways per 60
Tipp 0.96
Frost 1.02
Not a big difference at all. - Tomahawk
Not sure how much evidence needs to be given. One player is invisible and hard to see. The other is a budding superstar. LOL. With the exception of one is more playmaker and the other more of a goal scorer. They're at the same level as players. |

They should sign ufas but only 1 year deals to have some deadline ammunition. No problem with that and no reason to be rushing young prospects up to the big club |

Define rushing? They have plenty of young players that have spent plenty of time in system. Time to see what they can do. Team gonna suck anyways |

Agreed. Short term low cost UFA's as stop gap players are fine if needed. |

I meant offensive, don’t really care if a winger is splitting hairs with someone on give aways per 60 lol - ClaudeFather
Last 41 games, Tippett has 28 points (14G, 14A) to Frost's 27 (10G, 17A). Not a big difference. Frost leads the club in assists over the equivalent of the last half season. Tippett second to Konecny in goals. |

They are a fringe ahl playoff team. Not sure any of them besides the guys that are already up here deserve it. But they can earn the right to in camp battling a handful of ufas that get signed |

Hopefully two core pieces moving forward. I know points are equal, but the underlying numbers seemed to favor Tippett overall. I could care less who is “better”. Two different positions and two guys that bring a different skill set which is a good thing |

So bill stated yesterday Philly would be very active in the ufa market because 8 mil in cap space. Why? Just spit balling here wouldnt it be better to rid team of players that don’t fit a rebuild timeline. And just maybe play some of the plenty of eligible young players. Bank the cap space and maybe use that at the trade deadline as major asset to acquire picks/players that is the trend with under cap teams recently. - SMS4016
I didn't say that at all. I said they will try hard to open cap space and, if possible, potentially acquire an unwanted contract or two (expiring next summer or ar latest in 2025) to bring bacl assets. Teams pay a premium for cap space.
They won't be active in the UFA market. |

If so, that's a good sign. |

Well I wonder what’s more valuable if that’s the case. Bringing in cheap mentor type older ufa on short term or just playing the fringe ahl to nhl players and banking the cap space as asset at trade deadline. Either way they will suck and to help the rebuild position wouldn’t it better to bank the cap? |

I agree. I’m proud of the Flyers for resisting temptation when it comes to Gaudreau. He’s a really good player. How they couldn’t resist ND is a different story completely. - SuperSchennBros
Did they resist or did signing TDA leave them with no cap space without shipping out picks to get rid of existing players?
It is for the best that Gaudreau didn't sign here but don't think that Fletcher, in the midst of his aggressive retool, wouldn't have signed Gaudreau if he had the cap dollars to do it.
Let's not get started on ND "creating space and protecting star players". 4 years, double his salary, and modified NTC, a Chuck Fletcher special. I'm sure Clarke approved.

I don’t think Tippett and Frost are on the same level. Frost has been given plenty of opportunities since becoming pro and we as fans have been waiting for him to take that next step for a very long time. Tippett gets traded from Florida simply because Florida wanted a better player in return for a cup run. Tippett was expendable for the Panthers. Frost has never been expendable in Philadelphia. We need him right now.
What I see from Tippett most games is a reasonably physical player, a lot of hustle, Busts of speed and often creates his own scoring chances.
Tippett has played 4 less games than Frost but has 6 more points. Explain that.
I’m sorry but this is a really easy argue in favor of Tippett. |

Yea I guess we’ll see how much the cap goes up? In this environment where everyone’s strapped it might be a better idea to leave plenty of space
They could always trade the vet mid season. Or days before the deadline and make another trade with the new space acquired |

I would hope they leave enough space to be that flexible team to take on a contract come the deadline for assets in return. You can certainly add some veterans if needed in the off season and not spend to the cap depending on what moves are made |

define plenty of chances? This is his first full NHL season due to Covid or injury? I think it is a fools errand to compare, they're different players. Candidly the two of them are the only 2 players who have the wheels to blow through the neutral zone and make a D step back. Tippett is a power forward with really good speed, Frost a center with really good vision and anticipation. You hope, they both finish 40-50 and next season they taste 60 plus
Foerster on Frost wing looks good, kid is calm with the puck and can pick his spot, so far. you get enough depth to have Tip and Frost on different lines, that could be the start of something |

This isn’t Frost’s first full season because of Covid or injury. He’s just been flat out sent down a few times too. If you’re getting sent down from a roster that could use you, chances are you’re blown a chance or two. Frost sat one full season due to injury, I’ll give you this. Covid isn’t an excuse. |

To Oilers: Hart, Provy, Laughton, Seeler + pick(s), or bottom 6 type player/prospect
To Flyers: Draisaitl, Campbell
If Oilers say that's not enough, then swap TK for Laughts. I was just thinking that Laughts would better address a team need for them if they should get put out of the playoffs again this year. Flyers could also add one of our middle/bottom 6 type forwards or a B level prospect. Draisaitl turns 28 in October, which on the surface doesn't seem to ideally fit the Flyers' rebuilding timeline. But with his playing style, I think he'll be a very productive player well into his 30s. I'm not a big Campbell fan, but Flyers take him to help the money work. And he can be the guy through the rebuild years. - Big_E_88

The last 40 games have seen both players improve and look to be regular NHL'ers. That is what all Flyers fans want. Frost has things to work on but he is on pace to get over 40 points this year. That is good production for this first full year in the NHL.
I do not really care how long it took to get here. He is here and he is trending up. Same with Tippett. That's all that matters to me. |

That stat seems to be missing for some unknown reason. If I'm keeping one over the other I'm keeping Tippett in a heartbeat over Frost. I'm not saying they are getting rid of either and I'm not advocating for them to get rid of Frost, but Tippett seems to be around the puck at all times whereas Frost seems invisible a good part of the time. I guess he's making subtle plays cause I just don't notice him all that much. Cap going up to 95 million year after next! I hope our GM (whoever it may be) knows what to do with the extra cap space!

Some are more fixated on age rather than what really matters, which is games played. Apparently though he has blown some opportunities. Not sure when that was. I guess when he made the NHL roster out of camp and got hurt and missed an entire season. I guess that's a blown opportunity. I guess he also blew an opportunity when he was playing with no talented stiffs under both Yeo and Tortorella. He should've been able to rise above that. |
