This Second City guy did a nice job of detailing the Hawk prospects going into the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament. Gives some line charts too which is helpful. Notice the top 4 prospects are all playing center, that's good. ......

I see Nazar is centering L3 with a kid named Jackson Hallum on his wing. Hallum might be the fastest player I've ever seen come thru the USHL, an absolute burner with good size too. He was drafted by LVG last yr.

I don’t care how good he seems to be, I wouldn’t touch him with a 9’ pole. This Hawks rebuild just cannot afford a miss with the first pick this year, too risky for me. Obviously Bedard is the prize, but Fantilli or Carlson would be nice get to continue the rebuild.

GMing ain't easy, man. ..... It's said in a normal yr all of Bedard, Fantilli and Michkov would go 1st overall.

Posted awhile ago the two biggest questions I have for this upcoming draft is where Michkov and goalie Hrabal go and if they fall how far? .. As you mention, and I agree, the Hawks can not miss on this pick and no doubt drafting Michkov carries a good bit of risk. But passing on this super talented kid as each pick goes by is really tough.

Totally right on the bolded.

My own personal rule is no goalies in round one, and probably not the second, either.

Not the worst rule of thumb but I hate to be too inflexible or never say never. ..... This Hrabal kid is one of the most interesting goalie prospects I've ever seen.

He's having a poor yr on the worst USHL club which in theory would cause him to drop. We'll see, but I could see a franchise saying the kid is 6ft 6in, moves like a 6 footer, is both athletic and technical/efficient and grab him in the 1st.
