Flyers and Canadiens also win! Ducks losing but it’s early.

Been a good night so far for the Tank .I know it is very doubtful we get the top pick ,all I want is the best odds available.

I think that isn't really the case.

I talk to a lot of people and I think everyone sees upside, but not the type that Michkov level will be reached by him.

Never waste a 1st round pick on a Russian….ever, but especially not now.

NCAA Tournament Prospects

https://www.nhl.com/black...ey-tournament/c-342513198

"The seven will include Frank Nazar (Michigan), Ryan Greene (Boston U.), Drew Commesso (Boston U.), Dominic Basse (St. Cloud St.), Aidan Thompson (Denver), Jake Wise (Ohio State) and Slava Demin (Merrimack)."

Looks like the goalies, Commesso and Basse, are possible signings.

Demin's rights expire this year. He has good size and had a sizable jump in scoring, but given the logjam of D-men, there is probably not a contract for him. Might be a good AHL signing though.

Think Jake Wise will get a contract as there is a lot of development time in with him.

Others are back to college, apparently including Landon Slaggert (Notre Dame). Not sure about Liam Gorman but he might be able to go back to Princeton for a 5th year.

Still curious about the Euros. Ilya Safonov has had a very good year in the KHL but is signed for two more. Not sure if he can get out of his contract there. Big, heavy C with balanced scoring and old enough (21) to come over and maybe make an impact.

Scary read!

But Russian conscription experts and outside observers say Fedotov is being punished for his NHL ambitions and desire to leave Russia at a time when its relations with the West are dismal and its political leaders are demanding unreserved loyalty and patriotism from citizens.

"This is illegal. It violates several articles of the law, but sometimes the authorities resort to this when it is necessary to punish someone and send someone to the army," said Sergey Krivenko, director of the Moscow-based non-governmental organization Citizen. Army. Law.

Hello Sir!

As I've stated, it came to me in a dream, we are taking the Russian.

I don't ask for these dreams, they just come to me.

I'm sure their hearts are in the right place, though.

That said, the Russian is a larger risk than normal. There is a higher chance that there will be a new "government" in Russia as a result of the war - Putin could be removed in Mafia-style fashion. Who knows how the next tyrant will view Russian hockey players in the NHL?

You never know, the next government may be more interested in things that benefit the population like the economy, corruption, health care, rampant alcoholism and bad driving.

Would you be happy with that .I am not sure .Your call on Caufield was right on .
- oldduffman

Actually the player you wanted to draft would be a better fit for the Hawks. Cozens has been really good this season. He took a big step forward.

Could be. Not much history of that in Russia, though. But it would give me pause if I were a GM with a high pick.

Ya I really liked Cozens and he has been handled well by Buffalo .I still think Dach could have been treated much better buy the HAWKS and he is starting to show signs of being a much better player
All Iknow about this Draft is Bedard is the kid you want and right now I am just hoping the HAWKS can get the best odds possible to get that 1st pick .
The Russian kid seems to be the consensus best player after Bedard .Saying that there is a lot of baggage with him, but rule of thumb is you take the best player available .I know I would not want to be the one making that decision at draft time, unless I had some real good intel on his availability .

I hear ya, but if Michkov proves to be a superstar and is is reliable as Ovechkin or Malkin it could very well be the worst non pick in Blackhawk history, assuming the Hawks pick out of the top three and he’s available. I really have no idea what the best course of action is?

If they pick him they better surround him with some size then. He's pretty small. 5'8" 147lbs

Surround him with talent, ideally that talent is bigger, but talent first. Bigger guys can’t prevent anyone from taking runs at him. What prevents that is him being aware and elusive and a powerplay that makes opponents think twice about taking cheap shots.

I thought we go by how the guy looks in warm-ups?
- rpeters01

The 1st solo lap around the rink in the prospect's 1st game should be sufficient.

On the other hand, pick him and get him at age 28 or never, while a guy you could've had becomes great.....

I don't know the right course either. I am sure that posters here will retroactively know exactly what KD should've done.

Maybe the team needs a foreign policy advisor.

I don’t care how good he seems to be, I wouldn’t touch him with a 9’ pole. This Hawks rebuild just cannot afford a miss with the first pick this year, too risky for me. Obviously Bedard is the prize, but Fantilli or Carlson would be nice get to continue the rebuild.

28???

Isn't he like 17 or 18 with 2 or 3 years left on contract?
