When these young guys in Russian play in the KHl, they get a special miliary gym service for doing so.
Not every Russian kid is allowed to do this so many on the my draft board for 2023 has lots of Russian who will be obligated to serve - or never return.

Since when have we wait 1 full game to judge a prospect here? Long before a prospect plays his first game in Chicago or Rockford he's already been deemed a bust. Get with it!

Totally agree. The Mitchell and Kaiser situations are the opposite. These guys were quickly deemed real players. I'm not sure how to handle such largesse on the BOD. Pardon the confusion....

It is clear that canning JC and replacing him with Luke has cost them Bedard. Big failure by KD.

That was my reasoning as well.

The opportunity cost here is missing out on - potentially - the best player in the league.

Don't think Fields will be a Mahomes, but having a top-10 QB is essential for contending.

Getting back to Mitchell. There a few scenarios where he could be the 3rd RD next season.

1. Bury Zaitsev in the minors like Ottawa did for most of this season.

2. I still think some team desperate for D will come calling for Murphy. Yes some of you will find that hard to believe. If KD gets the right return he's gone.

3. Best scenario. Get a decent return for Murphy, and get a sweetener for taking on a RD cap dump for a year (Tyson Barrie, Tony DeAngelo, Tyler Myers). Burying Zaitsev will make a slot available for Mitchell.

Or maybe this is all moot and the organization has decided to move on from him.
