Regardless of what's going on currently, the future is still bright.

If this team "upgraded " chryrun for this savoie.....

Chickenrun has not been producing offensively....
Hope the sens finish with 1 more point then us.

Appreciate the update đź‘Ť

I'm generally positive, but being left off the u18 team was worrisome.

Assuming savoie starts at 3C. 2023/24

Tage
Cozens
Savoie
Krebs

I would think they start Savoie off on the wing. I do think he ultimately ends up in the middle down the road though.

I think this is a realistic opening night lineup next year:

Skinner-Tage-Tuch
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Mitts-Jost/Krebs-Savoie
Girgensons-Jost/Krebs-Greenway

That is if they have the stones to move on from Olofsson. They let Kulich cook for a little longer in Roch and he may be a call-up later in the year come playoff time.

Vinny’s replacement.

Plays NHL games when injuries hit, but I wouldn’t say he’s a regular.

He’s a had a great season on the farm but he’s also 24 years old. Not sure what the upside is but he could be a useful bottom 6 guy in a pinch.

No, I think he gets you to the playoffs but doesn’t get you where you ultimately need to go.

Especially if Matt Ellis, Jason Christie, and Marty Wilford are still his assistant coaches

I have jost at less then 50%
Mitts I'm 50/50 on returning.

Girgensons is done. Unless donnie pounds the table for him. I think we both know how that turned out.

Unless we really are tanking, these beatdowns land on the leaderships shoulders IMO.

He has me generally unsure.

Guy comes in as a players coach, when the going got tough ( around the Carolina game) pre allstar break, things changed a bit.

Comrie situation is another example. There's a riff after 10 goals allowed. He gone.
The vets didnt want to see olofsson sat.
Especially for the coaches new pet.

Vibes are broken

Time will tell I guess.

Engvall or Acciari could be good additions for the bottom 6 if they move on from both Girgensons and Okposo takes a head office role.

Mitts has one more year left, and unless he’s used as a trade chip, I don’t see why he isn’t on the team next year.

Also a scenario that they keep Olofsson I guess.

Just find a damn goalie and another top 4 d-man

Savoie with #38 this year.

5 more points in the next 8 periods and he hits 100 for the season.

So is that better or worse than 129 points in 68 games Dylan Strome? Or 111 in 56 in D+1 which is the same as Savoie except Savoie's already played in 5 more games and has 17 fewer points?

Just want to make sure I set my expectations correctly.

Update: The #Cardinals will not be able to get their initial asking price of a "2nd round pick and another asset" in a trade for WR DeAndre Hopkins, per

He thinks it will be closer to the #Cowboys Brandin Cooks trade of a 5th and 6th round picks.

Back to back 90 point seasons in the WHL is nothing to sneeze at.

I don’t know what Dylan Strome has to do with this but nonetheless.

Dylan Cozens’ DY he had 1.24 PPG, Savoie had 1.38 PPG

Cozens DY + 1 he had 1.67 PPG and Savoie has currently 1.53 PPG.

Savoie has the luxury of playing with Zach Benson, but even with Benson out of the lineup the last few weeks Savoie has gone full sicko mode.

I expect him to be a solid top 6 forward in his prime.

Because Dylan Strome had amazing back to back seasons in Junior, way, way better than Savoie, 1.89, 1.98 and took 3 years and a trade to become a 2C.

And how the (frank) are solid, top 6 forwards untouchable? We roasted the sh¡t out of Rags fans who had Kravtsov as untouchable because it's delusional to hold a kid who hasn't played a single game in the NHL a year after their draft as untouchable.

Neither Matthew Barzal or Brayden Point had the WHL production that Matthew Savoie has had.

Does that mean Savoie is going to have a better NHL career than either of them ? No.

But when you watch Winnipeg you see a player that has loads of potential and he brings a skill set that can bring people out of his seats.

Dylan Strome was screwed around by the Blackhawks despite being the same player that Washington just extended 5 years $25M too.

Did he live up to the draft pedigree ? No. We’re there concerns about his skating in the OHL and racking up a ton of PP points playing with McDavid ? Yes.

9/10 a player with Dylan Stromes production in the OHL turn out to be star in the NHL.

People routinely overvalue picks and prospects for the most part. That includes NHL gm’s.

98% of the players on NHL rosters were also once picks and prospects.

People and GM’s also routinely overvalue many other facets of the sport of hockey and their own teams in general due to emotional attachment and inherent biases

“Prospects become suspects” yet time and time again roster players are dealt for picks and prospects and it’s the team who got the futures that won the trade.

Why are the Sabres in a rush to trade Kulich or Savoie ? Especially for forwards who didn’t have term ?

The Rangers are also a prime example of not banking entirely on “drafting and developing” and having it work in their favor

They traded for their Norris D man

They traded for Zibanejad

They signed Panarin

Could you imagine them banking everything on drafting third liners Laff and Kappo?

Prospects are never a sure thing. Laff was a guaranteed 70 point two way winger when we was drafted

Which is actually irrelevant because the question isn’t whether all NHL players were once picks and prospects. The question is, what is the likelihood that your pick will become anywhere near the player you’re trading for, with a secondary consideration being whether they fit your timeline. That’s some low-level logic you’re employing.

Yeah, Ottawa really sped up their rebuild trading Zibanejad for Brassard.

Do you think Vegas wishes they held on to Nick Suzuki ?

How about the Sharks with Josh Norris and the pick that became Tim Stutzle for Erik Karlsson.

I’m all for Adams making moves, you don’t need to move Kulich or Savoie to do it.

I am also thrilled they didn’t trade Dylan Cozens or Jack Quinn either as one is already signed long term and the other won’t be too far behind.

Its good to hear an opinion on a prospect.

Not sure why everyone is trying to beat you down.

If they really want to improve this team next season, guys like savioe need to have a quinn type season.

Could you see that type of nhl rookie year?

Love Quinn's game. Peterka too. 2 of 16 nhl forwards on your team from 1 draft.

Can they do it with the 2022 draft too?

So which player dealt in the last 12 months was worth giving up Matt Savoie for then ?

Which player helps me today and for the next 5-10 years ?

Debrincant or Meier who are 12 months away from UFA ?

I could, I can also see a scenario where Savoie goes back to Junior and they let him marinate more.

Doesn’t mean you jump to trade the guy because you don’t want to wait for him to develop.

Yea except offering an opinion on a prospect isn’t what he’s doing at all. What I think he’s actually doing is expressing a pointlessly contrarian, unnuanced argument, based on faulty premises, and incorrect assumptions. It’s basically why every other word out of his mouth is “savoie” when literally no one has said that name but him.
But yea…Savoie dude. Can Savoie run and stop the run? See a pattern?
