The Sabres are literally having the exact same season the Devils had last year.

Will they make the same jump? Remains to be seen, but going from -40 goals saved below expected to average goaltending alone will do wonders for them.

Just find a goalie.

so ignore the scoring draught?

🙋‍♂️

Just got home, what did I miss?

Despite the 4 goal loss, everyone probably agrees that girgensons had a good game at least...

Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov, Point, Vasilesky, Killorn, Palat, Tyler Johnson, Yanni Gourde.

All drafted or undrafted free agents.

I’m assuming some of those guys should have been traded for players to help the Lightning win sooner ?

Yes, yes you are.

Peterka had 28 in 70 in the AHL as an old 19, basically 20 year old having a January birthday.

Quinn had 26 in 45 in the AHL as a 20 year old.

Adam had 29 in 57 in the AHL as a 20 year old.

.4 to .57 to .51 goals per game. Not a massive difference between Adam and Quinn. It's 5 goals over 82 games. Which a good player can easily get just from empty netters. 18 guys currently have at least 4 this year Guentzel has 7. Ovechkin had 9 last year.

- Wetbandit1

Assists don’t matter now ?

Holy hell Peterka had 68 points in 70 games as a 19/20 year old.

Quinn in two seasons had 70 points in 60 AHL games as a 19/20 year old.

They both had better years in the NHL in their rookie seasons than Adam, Baptiste, or Bailey could ever dream of.

Not all prospects are the same.

We used to convince ourselves that we had good prospects, now we actually have game changing prospects.

Apples and oranges comparison.

Good thing they waited for Kucherov, Point, Cirelli, Palat, and Killorn to pan out.

Why draft a goalie like Vasileaky with a mid round first when they could have traded it to “win now”.

Nazem Kadri, Andre Burakovsky, Valeri Nichushkin, Devon Toews, all well known Avs draft picks.

Artturi Lehkonen was added late last season and had 14 points in 20 games in the playoffs.

Landeskog was 29 when they finally had success, are you willing to wait 7 more years(Dahlin is in his 22 year old season) for the Sabres to have success?

Also picks the one outlier. Tampa is an anomaly and not the norm.

Hell the best 3 Buffalo forwards, they didn’t draft.

Prob should trade Tuch, Thompson and Skinnee for draft picks so they can get real talent in.

Dude what are you even saying now?

Literally every single god damn team that amassed a ton of draft picks and prospects ends up trading some of them. Every single team.

Only when you say they do, I guess.

I've honestly never seen someone with such bad takes.

Hey, but that one time Bill Belichick shut down Jared Goff proves you don't need a QB to win in the NFL.

Edit: Also, Luke Adam had 62 points in 57 games to Peterka's 68 in 70. Which is the better season?

They acquired Sam Girard by trading one of their former top draft picks. Can’t do that though.

The Devils chanted Fire Lindy the last two months of the season last year and through the first 10 games of this year.

Turned into “Sorry Lindy” chants real quick.

I’m not saying Donnie is the answer, if anything this losing streak hopefully spurs some action with the assistant coaches on the bench.

But when you get the goaltending we have, it makes everything look worse.

The team knows they are done, and are playing like the games don’t matter

Well no, they should have known Tim Murray was an NHL GM and trying to trade a maybe for a now is “Murraying” it.

Best QB of the generation has 2 SB wins and 3 SB appearances in 5 years as they constantly shuffle defensive players and RB’s.

Defense wins baby

Forgot about him.

I was really just going to go with the big name in Kadri, but then saw a bunch of other guys with major contributions. Trying to watch the WBC at the same time.

I forgot the part where Chicago traded for and did not draft:

Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, Hjalmarsson, Byfuglien, Bolland, Brower, Barker, Bickell

Nick Leddy was acquired by the Blackhawks in exchange for defensemen Cam Barker

Who’s Cam Barker might you ask?

Oh, only the former 2nd overall pick by Chicago.

One of them superstar prospies bruh

2010 cup roster was what I posted above.

Their only trade was Patrick sharp for a scratch off ticket,

Campbell and Hossa were free agents.

I think he is forgetting the part where we have our core group already and the drafted the core group argument is already void here because we've already made trades to build the core

Who then was excellent for 6-7 years in Chicago or however long.

Can Adams pull off one of those trades? Or is 7 goal Jost off waivers all we’re gonna get?

Just keep tanking and maybe they will get a good draft pick by sheer luck. Why get injured for another loser season. Can't wait for a very long summer vacation. Getting paid millions of dollars to only work half a season is a great job. Why would the players ever change and ruin a good thing. There is no quest for a cup, and if anyone really thinks this team is going anywhere, then they are on some really good drugs.

A cup win is a cup win.

Landeskog, Rantenen, Mackinnon, Makar, Byram, Newhook, Erik Johnson, were all homegrown.

They acquired Toews, Kadri, Lehkonen without giving up a first rounder or a top prospect.

Nichuskin was a free agent.

Yet we will burn Adams at the stake because he doesn’t want to move his top prospects or first rounder this year ?

There will be moves to be made in the offseason that won’t require moving the moon and the stars
