Rico? Is that Adam Henrique? I don't know anything about his injury but if he's healthy I would do that deal in a heartbeat. Won't happen. . .but I can dream.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hayes goes to Columbus or the Bruins (unless they win it this year).

Reach higher in your dreams. I'd be shocked if the Bruins were interested in Hayes.

if he does you owe a certain someone an apology

If Danny doesn't address the Provy situation this team will continue to go nowhere.
- Tomahawk

If I had my way I'd dump all the D except York. They need a complete overhaul but I know its not practical. I'd keep Seeler also.

so of the two you would trade provorov? i think he gets you more between he and sanhiem. just who takes provies minutes then? not saying i couldn't see him traded, just think he can handle higher d responsibilities than sanhiem. york is top line or 2 ld. but also don't think sanhiems contract is as easily moved after this season.

You think he gets you more? Uhh you think? No one wants a mediocre Dman signed for 7 years at a high cap hit. Sanheim is going nowhere unless big term/cap hit is coming back

If Provorov is surrounded by the right players on the right team, he'll be fine. He just can't be the player to anchor a defense on a poor team. Or even a good team for that matter. He's more Robin than Batman.
- MJL

It's time to get some value back for him and move on.

They can't keep blaming all the partners he's had over the years... the common denominator in all this mediocrity has been him.

I believe that the Flyers at this point should base who they trade on who they can get the better-quality future assets for. Provorov would be one of those players.

I would disagree somewhat on the last statement. It's more than just the lack of a quality partner. I think his mediocrity is based in part on the situation he has been in for most of his career. Playing on poor teams where he had to carry the defense since he was 19. Most 19-year-olds aren't breaking into the league in the #1 defenseman slot. The Flyers have done this to a number of players over the years. He's a product of his environment. I would not be surprised to see Provorov flourish on another team.

Oh for sure, the Flyers (frank)ed his development completely.

But we can't go back in time and fix that, so now they just need to deal with the reality of the situation. Not keep acting like he's some competent workhorse who just needs another Niskanen to shine bright. The sheer number of partners he hasn't gelled with over his career is staggering at this point.

He gelled with Niskanen and Gostisbehere for a bit. We didn't get to see what would've happened with Ellis. What other top pairing level defenseman did he partner with? The reality is that he is more a #2 than a #1.

Nisky was the only one worthy of a 1RD posistion though. Ellis looked promising for the few games before his demise.

agree that he is a #2, not pure #1

Provorov should be better than Sanheim, but he's often not... because he's makes a lot more dumb mistakes on the regular. No idea what he was doing last night on the Necas goal. What an idiot.
- Tomahawk

You have stats on that? Sadheim looks extremely ordinary.

IMO the partner angle has run its couse. A player of Provy's skillset should still be capable of turning a half-decent season, no matter who they're paired with. Not fall apart the minute they lose their Nisky security blanket.

Case in point, 21-22 Travis Sanheim. Turned in a career season, terrific underlying numbers, despite dragging the stinking corpse of Rasmus Ristolainen around.

lol

Meanwhile Risto's been horrible w/ Provy and Sanheim this season, but borderline decent with Nick Seeler lol.

This blueline is just plain stupid lol

Gotta admit a rainbow jersey with “Reimer” on the back would be pretty awesome! He probably took a lot of poop growing up with that name. Goalies are usually looked at as the least macho guys on the team too. Those kind of things can affect you into adulthood.

Sanheim had that season as 2nd pair defenseman. Provorov has had some good seasons also. My opinion is that the weight and the burden has brought him down. That last second play against Carolina that you mentioned is an example. He completely lost situational awareness and chased a puck carrier away from the net. The entire team lack defensive detail for the most part. Strange under a coach who hangs his hat on defensive structure who is supposed to improve all of that.
