Even that faceoff at the one minute mark, I didn't get. Their guy plays it with a high stick and then protects the untouched puck in the corner. We don't play it and the ref awards them with a faceoff in our zone. It should at least be outside.

I was sincerely asking - just following the score on my phone. - Atomic Wedgie
There was a collision between Puljujaarvi and Acciari where Puljujaarvi got his stick up into Acciari's face. Even if the collision is accidental (which it was), it's still both interference and high sticking on Puljujaarvi since he skated right into him. Pick your poison. The ref not only saw it happen, but he refused to talk to the linesmen.
On the ensuing play up ice, Jarnkrok is interfered with and held before he comes to a stop (skates fully sideways) at the crease, but Skei shoves him into the goalie and they gave Jarnkrok the penalty.
The rest of the way was somewhat tepid - but you know Carolina plays hard and plays by interference - it's their style. They don't draw another call all game, but we're called for 2 more - one on a ZAR trip, which was fairly legitimate (just not in the perspective window compared to what had not been called), and then a hold on Bunting, but Bunting had been held through the neutral zone and was battling with Slavin - they chose to call the penalty on Bunting, but in that case you call both or neither.
The real problem was that the Acciari and Jarnkrok calls were so obvious and egregious that Leaf fans are pissed about it - and rightfully so.

I will add for context that Mike Johnson as the colour guy as the plays happened, and the 4 panel guests (Duthie, Poulin, Pounder and Dreger) were just as shocked at both missed calls.

That was not my impression when I saw it the 2nd time...
Once they landed McCabe the left side was locked in. I think they dangled Sandin to see if they could re-stock the cupboard a bit. Landing Gustafsson and a first essentially gave them a 30 yr old Sandin and a 17 yr old Sandin for Sandin. Not a bad way to alleviate the roster jam.
I like Sandin more than most but they just couldn't fit him into the top 4 and Gio is such a nice affordable lock on the left side in the bottom pair. - The Law
Liked Sandin too. But he just wasn't built to do the heavy lifting which was surely lacking.
Really glad that we have Lilly tho. He's just going to get better each year.
