He’s so caught up in trying to fight every single post he doesn’t even read. I’m starting to think Jimbo was right and this place was much better off when he was banned.

To be fair I misread it at first too. I am distracting myself during a meeting by bantering with you guys.

But if Nate Thompson or Ryan Reaves decided FOR THEMSELVES knowing the potential consequences, who are u or the NHL to make them wear one? U decide not to wear one that’s on u, no one else.
- nyrangers9479

Nate Thompson did decide for himself in that instance. As he was drafted 2003 and had 250+ NHL games played.

It's something fighters are going to have to adapt to, as Shawn Thornton told CSNNE:

“I don’t even know all the new rules yet. Nobody has explained them to me,” admitted Thornton. “What if a guy’s helmet is taken off during a fight? Are they going to stop the fight? I know he’s not allowed to take off his own helmet. I’m not looking forward to punching [a visor] when I’m throwing at somebody’s face. If I’m in the middle of a fight with a guy with a visor on, I’m getting his helmet off. That’s the first thing I’d be doing.

“Why don’t they invent a visor that can be pulled off [the helmet]? How hard would that be? There has to be something you can just clip in, and then when you get into a fight you can click it off and toss it. I should invent it.”

Who’s arguing it’s a rule? We know it’s a rule, a dumb one. If a player chooses not to wear a visor that’s on them knowing the potential consequences. In response to the mandatory visors, guys started unbuttoning the chin straps, then the NHL banned that also. Guys used to also take the helmets off so they didn’t break their hands on the helmet thrown a punch, the NHL banned that also.

So by that logic seatbelts should be optional

The option isn’t there to decide for yourself anymore.

Well, I mean helmets are optional in some states. Just ask Ben Roethlisberger.

I laugh every time I'm in another state and see an idiot on a motorcycle without a helmet on

Martin is one of the ones grandfathered in. I think Reavo too? I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head but I'm sure there are a few.

When I think of visors, i always think of Danny G when he got that puck stuck in his visor and he looked like a pirate.

IDK why helmets are even necessary at all.
I mean the NHL has a Department of Player Safety to protect the players already!

I'll show myself out now..

They don't require them here in CO. Drivers here are so bad i don't even know how anyone feels safe on a motorcycle in general, but especially without a helmet. Guess that's why they're called donorcycles

Never heard that the drivers were particularly bad in Colorado. Interesting.

I used to live in Lakewood and I had a co-worker who's brother had a motorcycle accident on 70 and died from it. No helmet. Friggin nuts.
