I'm not so sure that it's the league screwing the players as much as it is that the PA doesn't want to "aim low" on the salary cap upper limit/HRR projections because then that keeps the size of new contracts signed down which players would be more unhappy with. If you're losing the same percentage no matter what, you're still taking home more money with a higher cap.
I think it's more of an organic inefficiency that just happens to benefit the owners and I'm no big company-man for the league/owners. - eichiefs9
Wasn't insinuating you were. It's just this league always benefits the owners. |

No I know, didn't mean it that way. Just saying I'm not typically the guy to defend the owners but I don't think this one is on them |

Analytics my friend.
Some numbers guy figured out that it was more productive for the team bat .200 with 2hr and 8Ks than to bat .400. Guys are encouraged to try to hit homeruns. Shift happens but the numbers guys still maintain that 2 Homers is better so no one changes their approach. - climbdenali12
“Analytic guys” are a bunch of nerds that have never played the game. U see just by the charts that get posted vs watching the game with your own eyes, most of the time the 2 don’t add up. Same with the “deserve to win o’meter”. All garbage |

I’m not going back and forth with u about baseball. Analytics and all its fan boys have ruined the game and turned many people off from it. Stats/data/analytics can be manipulated to make anything look better or worse, proven by your stupid “deserve to win o’meter”. Means absolutely nothing. |

I don’t know who is/isn’t. All I know is it’s turned a ton of people off from the league and it’s trash. |

Why did the refs stop the MAF/Binnington fight last night? Fans love goalie fights, both guys were willing to go, why step in? |

He's the general manger that used Money Ball which ended up leading the Red Sox to 3 World Series titles under his tenure.
So it looks like that's 2 teams that have used sabermetrics in baseball. (Hint it's all of them.) |

No, but they did stop coming to this blog because of it. |

It’s what analytics have done to the game. Home run or strike out, there’s no more small ball, advancing runners etc. The shift is ridiculous and has cut down on that as well. U have 1 player on one entire side of the field, ridiculous. |

Looked like the ref was already committed to staying tied up with Binnington so he didn't do anything else before MAF even got down there. I would have loved to see MAF feed Binnington his lunch. That guy is a clown.

Sorry Jan ---
Edwin Diaz blew out his knee celebrating a win over Team Dominican Republic in the game tonite.
Just remember, I'll always save a seat for you on the Yankees bandwagon! - TommyGTrain
Thank you but I am good. Plus, don't hate the Yankees. as a kid, the two teams weren't really good at same time, so only dislike is when they face each other. |

I think more the sparkling repartee created the issue, though that might have driven by the analytics focused. But not a singular reason, though as you can imagine, I am ecstatic about it (sarcasm dripping) |

Once he saw MAF, let him go. The refs get involved and stop way to many fights. If 2 guys are willing to go just let them. I was reading something a few days ago the NHL wants to start using some female refs to keep up with the wokeness taking over sports? But they’re afraid to bc they don’t think female refs could break up the scrums/protect vulnerable players as well? First time I’ve read/seen that but thought it was interesting. |
