You been to Citi field for a concert? It's very nice. Food options in stadium are top tier.

I've been there once during their first season at Citi. It's a nice park. Haven't done any concerts there.

I will probably try to bring my daughter this year. She is interested in going since we watched a few games during the postseason last year.

I think COL was more physical than you realize, it wasn’t their identity, but they were also supremely talented upfront and their top players all have an edge to them. They had (4) players last year over 85 points. At the deadline they added role players, Cogliano Manson Lehkonen.

Gotta think Cuylle gets another shot. Be on the playoff roster at least, and see how a series is going. I think you’re stressed too much about it. I do get it tho

That's the one good thing about baseball. If your daughter is old enough to understand the game, but not to old to be bored by it, you can explain what's going in real time. Hockey is just too fast for that especially in arena.

Been a 20-game plan holder since 1998, after Piazza came. Started watching at a six year old kid, first games were the World Series
- airjan23

My father was a big baseball fan. He was 7 years old when they won it in '69. He's told me stories about how he would watch and listen to the World Series games in '86. He'd be listening in the car and when the inning ended him and a whole bunch of other people it seemed would run into the store to try and get in and out in time to not miss the next inning.

He picked up Hockey around 1991 or so and we haven't really watched any other sports since. I got heavy into baseball for a while but stopped like I mentioned. We tried football but the tuck rule game ruined that too.

She watches hockey on tv and I am trying to explain it. It's a fast game but I think she is starting to get it.

She thought the Disney thing last night was weird.

That’s my gf. I try to explain football and I lose her once I get to the offensive line

To be fair, football can be boring as (frank). My wife hates all of the stoppages.

I guess for kids under 10 it was good? Idk, I turned it on and it looked like a bad video game. I was like "Nope, I'm out."

If the Rangers and Jets win a championship in the next year Tom will give you a handjob.

I'm approaching the end of my ability to pretend I'm a baseball fan. I do love the Yankees but the sport just bores me to tears after awhile. Maybe the pitch clock will change that.

How do you think Tony is going to like living in NYC?
- Fenrir

Yeah, that's unlikely.
I'm loving everything so far, but it's nuts. I'd prefer a slower pace of life than my town of 90,000, I could never adjust to this.
Toured MSG this morning. Got me pretty psyched for tomorrow! Can't believe Dancing Larry has 2 huge mural type pics on the wall.

Let's break it down and not be lazy about it. Skip this post if you want as I'm about to go into Saver territory.

First goal against was created out of the opposite corner of Kane. Trocheck left 2 players in front of the net with Schneider to engage a player who was being pursued by Harper and posed minimal danger in the corner if any. He got caught and the goal was scored.

Kane's Primary responsibility there is to have a proper gap against the attacking defensemen on the point (who was actually a forward when a pinch was made earlier) and not let him come in back door or leave him entirely wide open for a shot from the point. Secondarily he should be slumping down to help should the center vacate because the attacking players in the slot are more dangerous, this is where he gets caught a little in between. Kane could have left his man and engaged the shooter more directly but that would have left Dowd completely open at the point. All of this is precipitated by Trocheck being a bit too aggressive and failing to pick off the pass. In the end, the shot came from an uncovered forward which was not Kane's primary defensive assignment on the opposite side of the slot. Damn near perfect shot too.

Second goal, Fox has a shot blocked in the offensive zone which allows Wash to break out. It starts as a 3 on 2 with Kane and Fox backchecking. Mikola comes back and Kane correctly goes to pick up the 3rd attacking player A3...but there are 2 more attacking players coming. Why? The pass is made from the side wall to A4 (Oshie) so Kane releases on A3 and plays the pass from A4 back to A3 as he is already in the shot lane...Instead of shooting or passing because Kane is there, A4 finds A5 who scores off the pad of Mikola. Where was the rest of the backchecking forwards? Kreider and Trocheck changed instead of backchecking. If Kane locks in on A3 there, A4 walks right down the slot and shoots. Kane did the best he could here given the situation.

Going back to the original point though...and why I took exception to your lazy +/- jab.

Kane was directly involved in 2 goals for...and while he was on the ice for two 5v5 goals against and while that doesn't change his stat line, blaming him would be misplaced.

This doesn't mean he plays good defense, it simply illustrates that a -1 stat line in the scheme of the game is misleading at best and disingenuous without context.

Sorry for the rambling.

With you on that, even though a "town" of 90,000 is too much for me.
Touring MSG must have been really cool.
