I do not like this comment -- he should have said EVERYTHING is on the table including a firesale

One mistake the Flyers consistently put themselves in, is that they pretty much announce to the league that they're going to make trades. Then they get bent over dealing from weakness all the time. They're pretty much in that position again by why announce to the league that everyone is for sale?

Generally well run teams don't give out term, money, and NTC to everybody but Fletcher was extremely generous and gave out all 3 to everyone who asked which made him popular in the locker room.

Heck he gave a 32yr old 4th liner 4 years at double his previous contract and a modified NTC. ND saw the trifecta and took it. How many 4th liners in the NHL have that security and control?

Didn't Flahr help negotiate those contracts?

- Flyers_01

Same with Ristolainen though. Don't you know that other teams were bidding for the player? I want the Flyers to start letting other teams win those bidding wars.

I didn't quite get the same vibe.

Torts almost was biting his tongue before he started, but he clearly stated that Frost was not showing chemistry with Tippet consistently and was thinking of moving Hayes back to center. It was clearly not a ringing endorsement of Frost from Torts, in fact to me he was stating that Frost was holding Tippet's production back. Watch it again, it was pretty clear to me what was said.

1. No? That's just silly. I'm allowed to have a take on the discussion.

2. The leafs got a player in return and a first round pick. People act like it was somehow a fleecing by the capitals. Cheechoo scored 50 goals once too, was San Jose wrong to trade him for Karlsson? Let me know when Seeler plays on the top pair and does as well as Sandin.

Probably need to trade him to the Caps to find out!

I did watch. It's clear over the years from reading your posts that you have a unique way of looking at many things, I will leave it at that.

Hayes was already moved back to center. I thought you watched the games?

Fake news. They get bent over because they are acquiring players.

The players they are selling have a value. No propaganda is gonna change that.
Tk has a value whether it’s known he’s for sale or not.

It’s up to the gm to NOT accept a poop offer plain and simple.

As is with every player

Again, that is not accurate. He was actually talking about Tippet and how he doesn't want him to be a one on one player. He wants to be more of a give and go player and to work off of other players. Tortorella said he doesn't know if he can do that with Frost or another player and that he was thinking about trying Hayes in that spot. It was about chemistry between players and not really a criticism of any player. If you watch with a bias, you hear what you want to hear.

Great news on Coots. I always forget what a huge loss that was to the team this year.

Is that what you call it? As in only Hextall would do that?

Seems to me like a common sense approach in general.

We know what the other teams were offering. Nothing even remotely close to what cf paid.

Sabres were trying to move risto for years. They were smart. They knew some tool would be come along dumb enough to say overpay. And when philly came a calling they pounced on that deal.

Ok.

Were you trying to make the point that it is only what Hextall would do? Thus calling it the "Hextall Doctrine"?

Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say. Do you disagree that is what they should do?

What would you do differently?

You don't think other teams/GMs already knew or had eyes on this ordeal once Fletcher screwed the deadline and then was fired? Other GMs were circling before DB had his presser or anything was said.

Farabee's health is still in question... quite a risk to trade for him right now. Maybe it pays off handsomely for somebody (or the Flyers if they stick w/ him).
- Tomahawk

he is not one to trade imo unless overpayment. just due to his age and the down year. he needs a good strong offseason.

If you can get a 1st round pick and another player for him by all means. I think that would be a steal of a deal

Other GM's have been circling and taking advantage of the Flyers for years. Ever since Fletcher was hired and Scott and Holmgren held that idiotic press conference. That's the point. Don't make it worse than it already is by constantly announcing your plans even if it is already known. I understand that it wouldn't make much difference, but I still don't want the GM announcing a fire sale.

That’s just not true. How many deals were made with teams calling Philly? They weren’t circling. What deals were made where another team initiated contact? Most if not all were cf calling to move or acquire players.

He simply got fleeced because he blows and doesn’t know the value of the players. Undoubtedly with the help of the Dino’s in his ears.

I also don’t buy into this dumb trade at lowest value point of weakness narrative either. If the offer is not up to par simply walk away.

For example if they were to put bee on block his absolute value is a first round pick. The excuses of down year are propaganda. It would be up to briere to not accept less value

For some, (Fletcher included most definitely) I think it becomes about a person victory... a win... when it comes to these bidding wars. In the days before the cap, the Flyers were notorious for outbidding teams with their massive budget and Snider's competitive desire. Unfortunately, the same mindset persisted in the organization following the institution of the cap.

Next year becomes a huge season for Farabee. Will give him a pass this year coming off the injury. But he has 20+ game goal scoring droughts next season he becomes yet another albatross on the books.

Where do I start? LOL
Please provide the documentation of who initiated the call on any trade the Flyers made recently.

If you follow the conversation, what I'm objecting to is other posters suggesting the Flyers trade a player, just to move the contract. I'm suggesting that the Flyers remain patient and not make trades just to make a trade. To walk away if the value is not there.

If you want to tell someone what they posted is not true. It helps to know what is actually being said.
