Lots of questions I would love to ask Danny Briere but he would never answer.

What did you think of the Ristolainen trade and the subsequent re-signing?

What did you think about the Deslauriers signing?

What did you think about the Angelo trade and signing?

What did you think of the Sanheim contract?

- MJL

no credible gm would

I meant leadership at the executive level, not at the team level.

I'm looking for smart hockey people to make good decisions and smart moves. If you want to label that as leadership. I'm in.

All great questions and here’s one more:

Danny, why should the fans believe that you are the one to win them back?

- mikeyo27

He would answer that question but he wouldn't be able to give me a satisfactory answer for that.

I would absolutely not give Sanheim away just to get out of the contract. Konecny would also be a player that would draw wide interest.
- MJL

You have to pay for 1. taking on the FULL contract and 2. Taking on a NTC that wasn't handed out by the GM for the first four years. Everyone knows that Philly needs cap space, they won't be doing so for free.

I didn't say TK won't get interest I just said I think the other two get the most considering their respective positions.

Why is there discussion over keeping a 7th dman? There's like 50 of them as free agents every year. The leafs alone have like 4 this year you can sign in free agency for whatever. Here, I'll trade you 2 today for an 8th round pick in the 2040 draft.

The guys we should discuss are Hart, Provorov, Hayes, Samheim, TK, (ellis if he ever has a chance of coming back?)

Sanheim is the hard one with that NTC BUT the good news is his NTC doesn't kick in until July 1st so he can be moved at the draft without his input to where. Problem is, will he be good enough to get something? I suppose almost anything without retaining salary would be the way to go.

Anyway, I think Hart and Provorov get the most interest.

- Aaron_85

Well, the Laffs just gave up their 7th d-man (Sandin) to the Caps and he's lighting it up now that he has a chance. Maybe the Laffs aren't the right example you're looking to make when it comes to 7th d-men.

Are you going to put someone in HB jail for talking about Nick Seeler?

Agreed. I mean he's still interim GM who wants the full time gig. Who would answer those questions honestly?

1. No? That's just silly. I'm allowed to have a take on the discussion.

2. The leafs got a player in return and a first round pick. People act like it was somehow a fleecing by the capitals. Cheechoo scored 50 goals once too, was San Jose wrong to trade him for Karlsson? Let me know when Seeler plays on the top pair and does as well as Sandin.

I think the only guarantee is that Hayes gets bought out or gets moved in an ugly deal that sees the Flyers eat salary and/or take a bad contract in return. Torts is basically demanding that.

Provy and TK... maybe?

The Hart stuff I'm guessing is just media echo-chamber.

Contracts like Sanheim, Coots, Cam, Risto... even Farabee... good luck.

- Tomahawk

I largely agree however I could see the following transpire: Sanheim traded before the NTC kicks in (ridiculous that he has one in the first place but I digress), Hayes shipped out like you say, and then I can def see Provy sent packing as well.

Coots/Cam/Risto are here to stay. May be a marked for Bee, but I kind of want to see him have a healthy offseason of training, and see what we have next year. That injury/surgery could not have been easy even though he's young.

Don't mean to open up this topic again, but in todays Torts pre-game presser, Torts once again called out Frost as not being good enough to play with Tippet consistently, listen at the 8:50 minute mark. Torts said he is seriously considering moving Hayes back to center to play with Tippet. Whether you are in Frost's corner or not, I think its becoming clearer that Frost will be traded in the off-season.

“Hi Danny, I’m from the hot takes gazette. I was wonder as a former player of this organization and newly appointed General Manager, do you hate the players as much as I do and what are your overall thoughts of the current state of the Philadelphia Flyers? Can I quote you as saying this team blows?”

I think we know by now that there are certain questions the media won’t or can’t ask.

Sanheim is not a player that is just a cap dump. His contract plus his level of play this season, along with the current cap situation, will limit his value this off season. Hopefully he plays better next season, with the cap going up after the 23/24 season once the players escrow is fully paid back. That could open up the market for him. Which is why you don't move him in a bad deal this off season when you could likely do the same thing after next season.

An argument can be made that Konecny is the best player out of the three, garnering just as much interest if not more.

That's hysterical.

If that is true, that's why Tortorella needs to go soon.

Farabee's health is still in question... quite a risk to trade for him right now. Maybe it pays off handsomely for somebody (or the Flyers if they stick w/ him).

I hope you are right. But I just don't see it. Maybe if they go after some big name FA's and try for the short term fix they may catch sooner. (still think that would be 5 years). But I want this team to get into a cycle of going long term sustainability. That takes time.

They need to restock the picks, make the right picks, clear the cap space, have a smarter long term cap strategy, and revamp how they develop the picks they DO make. IMO signing a goalie to a big dollar contract to sit around while all this happens makes zero sense. It's like buying a Corvette to go to the corner Wawa. They need the draft assets and cap space WAY more.

So bring back the Hextall doctrine?

Briere already said he doesn't envision a fire sale.

Keep that in mind as you let your imaginations wander lol

I do not like this comment -- he should have said EVERYTHING is on the table including a firesale

Is that what you call it? As in only Hextall would do that?

Seems to me like a common sense approach in general.

Generally well run teams don't give out term, money, and NTC to everybody but Fletcher was extremely generous and gave out all 3 to everyone who asked which made him popular in the locker room.

Heck he gave a 32yr old 4th liner 4 years at double his previous contract and a modified NTC. ND saw the trifecta and took it. How many 4th liners in the NHL have that security and control?

Didn't Flahr help negotiate those contracts?

Any player that can bring a 1st round pick needs to be traded.
