Listen, I get it, you are trying to make a point by over emphasizing what people were saying about Seeler.

You see a guy that is worth less than a 5th round pick who would probably never play in the NHL.

I see a guy signed at the league minimum who is a veteran. A guy I would be comfortable having as the 7th guy over a younger player who I would rather be playing.

And if Seeler has to play he is much better than his cap hit.

I get that you would rather have the draft pick and sit a kid in the press box. We just disagree. It's about asset management nothing more. I would rather pay Seeler 750k and have a guy who can actually play if needed over a guy you may have to pay a million but cant play a lick.

Either way, I don't want a kid being the 7th guy.

i see a replaceable player the gm said he would only consider trading if offered an overpayment was offered. that is poor management. never said i wanted a kid as the 7th d man.

Sure he is replaceable. But I highly doubt you get a comparable player for the same cap hit.

You most likely will be paying more for a player who is not as good.

Bird in hand so to speak.

This, plus I think Seeler will be much more valuable at next year's deadline playing on an expiring deal.

I see a lot of talk about trading sanheim next off season but doesn’t he have a NTC or NMC that kicks in this upcoming season?

If you're going into a rebuild. Seeler is the kind of player you want on the roster. He is serviceable and cheap and can give you reliable minutes. He won't block a younger player and he can move in and out of the lineup. A player that can save you cap space. The Flyers need 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. Another 5th or 6th pick won't make a difference. There was more value in keeping him than trading him. There also have been zero reports that I'm aware of that anyone had interest or made an offer for Seeler.

correct, no one was willing to pay what chuck asked for. and disagree. if you don't have the picks you won't ever get the players. where would tampa be without one of their 5th round picks in point. detroit with zetterberg and datysuk. we even have a rookie in cates doing well. he was a 5th round pick. the list continues. yes longer shot to draft that player, but if you don't have the pick you can't draft said player.

Years 1-4 full NTC, years 5-8 he has a M-NTC with a 12 team no trade.

Ugh.

Edited to add: That doesn't mean he cant be traded. It just means he has full control on where he goes.

So again...

Between the season he has had, the amount/length of the contract, and with this full / m ntc, they won't be able to unload it for anything of value. MAYBE a 4th? Horrible.

Said before I only see two or three players traded this summer. That was before Danny took over. His comments seem along the same lines.
