Provy has a direct lane to ND for a break out and he sends a bouncing weak backhand up the boards and it ends up in our net, he has been brutal

I know I am leight to this convo but I don't want to call the kids up. I want to see LHV make the playoffs and I think that the experience of them playing in the playoff will be beneficial for their development. Not that playing in the NHL isn't valuable but I just hope that LHV can keep pushing and get in.
Give the kids a cup of tea so that they can see first hand how different the NHL pace but send them back down for the playoff push. That's just my opinion.
If LHV males the playoffs it will be good for the entire team down there to have that experience and they can learn what it feels like to actually win games, unlike the flyers

Not only do I agree but I don’t want the issues and bad habits the Flyers have to poison our young players. I think AHL playoff hockey and their own team is much more beneficial.

Bill, which players would you list as the flyers true Leadership Group right now? Do they have the right guys from that perspective to build around?

How has forester looked so far? I was only able to catch the first period of the last game.

Another Hextall classic, going into seasons with questionable goaltending. Remember the Neuvirth Mrazek season

To be fair JVR was playing pretty well for Toronto at the time. I wouldn’t have gone that route though. That felt to me like a pressure move to bring in a “name”. Could have just been a bad signing by Hextall though.

I’m gonna take a hit for this but I’m making what I feel is a valid point. Hextall does a good job by moving up really bad contracts and creating cap space. He gets us younger. You trade 25 year old Brayden Schenn just after drafting 18 year old Nolan Patrick. Neither move works out and you sign 28 year old James van Riemsdyk and 28 year old Kevin Hayes. I mean, you ask what was the point to all the work Hextall has done if you’re just going to undo everything that was done when you got here?

Poll:

would it have mattered if the flyers hired a better replacement for Hextall or would any hire struggle with how the flyers have been managed?

In other words, could another successor have done significantly better than Fletcher or was the way this team was managed from the top down doomed to fail regardless?

- funmaster18

Both GM's made mistakes. Hextall was average and Fletcher was terrible. Both GM's were saddled with a franchise that was, as Tortorella put it, unprofessionally run.

There were factors during both of the GM's time that made it difficult to do their jobs. At least one of them tried to change how the franchise operates.

I actually feel like the mistake that was made was getting rid of Mrazek.

Cliff Fletcher’s entire Flyers career is a back tracking of the work done prior.
