Yeah they better make a sacrifice to the Voo Doo Goalie Gods.

hahaha yup. Goaltending sinking ships is tough to watch. I would have zero issue with them winning it all this year. McDavid is such a god damn treat to watch...he's like Mario on speed or some sh!t

I think construction around the Pens arena is really hindering their attendance as well. My bro said it’s a nightmare to get to the arena. They park out in Station Square and take the train back here lol. Tix in certain markets are way overpriced too.
- j.boyd919

Yeah, Ive seen some current live theres mention the godawful construction around the arena a few times this season.

Hahaha. The scapegoatism thickens. Carter is now at fault for goals against whilst on the bench. The clown shoes are long around here.

I am curious to hear your case defending Carter's 200 IQ high stick play.

They may run through the weak West this year, but I don't see them stacking up against Boston or Carolina. Too good defensively and well structured for McDavid and Draisaitl to go 1v5 against.

He'll deflect to a penalty that Geno took in the first period instead.

I find the current perception of this team fascinating.

Youre in the playoff hunt despite being in the tougher conference and arguably the toughest division in the league.

This team has $20M in cap space this summer to resign Jarry and either resign or find replacements for Zucker and Dumoulin.

Am I missing something? This team is in good shape.

- mochoson

Youre characterization isnt unreasonable. I think the more pressing issue is there is just very little faith in the people running this ownership. Everything from absent owners more focused on bigger teams like Liverpool & the Red Sox, to the GM that seems to have no plan and makes bad decision after bad decision, to the head coach who seems to be protecting inferior veteran players at the expense of younger guys who can make an impact.

The missing part is that yes, we have 20.9 for next year...but only 14 signed(only 7 forwards). That space has to cover 9 more guys if we carry the normal 23. Just figuring 8-9 million for Jarry/Zucker or replacements and you see the real picture, 10-12 million to fill 7 more spots.

He shouldn’t of touched it. I have a hard time blaming him for the goal that followed considering he was on the bench. If anything I think a time out was in order, so you could put a face off man worth his salt there. Sid barely tried on the following face off and his linemates basically stood still. Any team tgat wants to try hard for a period has a chance against this team.

I have to wonder how much COVID has to do with the decline of Carter. Didn't he have it two or three times in the span of month and a half at the beginning of last season. I know people who've had it, say they still haven't recovered.

It doesn't excuse Hextall for signing him or Sullivan for playing him. Only makes it worse really.

Scapegoating is an easy hole to fall into. You don’t fully understand what’s going on, there’s almost like a mob atmosphere going on around one person or thing and it’s way easier for the weak minded to pick up a pitchfork than to bring any blame anywhere near their idols. Carter made the wrong decision to play the puck but it was a minor step towards losing to a much better team.

Yes man.. You're the only one here that really understands hockey, we all know. Your defending of a fossil with only 4 points in his last 25 games who totally fn blew it at a crucial time in the game last night putting his team in horrible situation is comical. I don't think theres one person here today who thinks the loss is totally on Carter but by all means run with this new mob mentality narrative now hahaha

Much better team?... You dont understand what you're watching. You still think it's 2019 for both teams and your comments prove it over and over again when the Pens play them.

Lol the islanders are not a much better team come on now.

Point taken that if we were good we would have just beat them but in a game with two generally even matched teams Carter’s blunder was the difference.

I attended opening night 1967 against Montreal I have never been more disgusted with any team in Penguin history This is not a bunch of kids making youth like mistakes These are veterans and should know better But the leadership of this team Management is totally out of touch with reality Somewhat like our Federal Government It is a shame to see this happening and i, for one, and done really caring any more. It is a clown show at best. If you cannot see it I feel sorry for you because you are just as dumb as they are I AM DONE

Key part of that 20M is only 14 players signed. We're missing a starting goalie and a top 6 wing who has 22 goals and counting. There's also no semblance of a third line as in not one player people feel completely confident in.

Add just the general age of the players means there are lots of places for potential decline. Nobody coming up from the farm system besides maybe Ty Smith looks to help next year.

Saying all that, some of that is impossibly high standards of still wanting to compete for a Cup not just a playoff spot. But I see several challenges to overcome just to be as good next year as they are this year, and that feels mediocre to a fanbase that is admittedly spoiled from a long period of being on the short list for contenders.

Would have been nice to give Nylander and/or Puustenen some looks this season. Maybe one of those guys steps up and proves they belong in the NHL while they work cheap. If not, at least you know what needs to be done for next year. Look how long O'Conner took to earn a regular shift and he's been one of our better players recently.

I really loathe how this team is managed anymore. Horrible GM and I've lost a good deal of faith in Sully too.

Nylander back up by the way.

Agree on the management. They can't clean house enough.

The time to give those guys chances was earlier. Now they only have 4 waiver moves for the rest of the year. And with no cap space they'd have to waive one guy to call another up and I think that burns 2 moves.

But since they won't give DOC much playing time and benched POJ for Kulikov, I'm not sure what a young player can do to get ice time.

Easy answer...ask to be traded. If those 2 haven't yet earned real time, I can't see anyone in our system honestly expecting a spot on the Penguins and I wouldn't blame them one bit for wanting out.

Also can't see any college free agent choosing to come here either.

Haha. How do you know the islanders don’t just get the puck and score anyways? Also to note Colby said none of the players on the bench or ice were screaming to not touch it. I’m sure Crosby and his linemates don’t blame Carter for their poor d zone after that so it’s all good.

Vitale should just go punch him in the face, then Engelland can fight the rest of their front office at the same time.
