Nobody would have interest on him with retained salary? I have a hard time believing that. Even if peanuts come back. Hayes is certainly worth 3.6 a year for a couple more years to someone
- Just5

We also thought JVR would certainly be worth $3.5M to somebody at the TDL too.

Hayes isn't young. The bubble has fully burst on his "two-way" rep. His offensive numbers from earlier this season when he was playing 20+ mins as 1C were nice but very few teams would utilize him in that role. And he's got a 12-team no trade list.

The market for him would be small.

So now you are a Kevin Hayes fan?? Give me a break already! Kevin Hayes off this club is truly addition by subtraction. He is slow, lazy and does not buy into what Torts wants. You can't win with players like Kevin Hayes playing significant minutes on your team. You are dammed right its about making Torts happy. Before Torts came here, Scott, Fletcher and their stooges were making stupid trades to try to band-aid a lineup together that could make the playoffs. Torts has turned the ship around and got everyone, including Scott, on the same page as the the course of action that should be taken to rebuild this franchise. Its the first time in over a decade everyone within the Flyers organization is on the same page.

Give Torts credit for this!!

Hayes is likely to turn into another CF debacle. Too many barriers to making a good trade with him. I'd be shocked if they got more than a 2nd rounder and had to hold back money on him, as well. CF's foresight is really uncanny... uncanny as in bad!

That's exactly why Seeler is a good player to have around. If a young player falters. You can plug Seeler into the 6 spot. Low cap hit, play hard and is reliable as a 6/7. Perfect player for that spot.

I agree, but Hilarious coming from you since you made such a stink about York

And with a 12-team NTC you can bet beautiful, exciting Columbus OH is off the table as far as Hayes is concerned.

Columbus management is going to make a move because it's Gaudreau's buddy?

His body language tells me he is miserable af with the current situation. Hopefully tells his agent he'll take a look at any team willing to make a deal.

York has been the best all around dman on the Flyers since he was called up, despite being forced to play the right side to accommodate Saint Ivan. It's a joke that Zamula made the roster before him.

York has handled top 4 duties with ease, while Zamula got abused on the 3rd pairing.

You're not making sense. Seeler was never a player that was going to block York or any other young player. Seeler is a safety net and is not a player that is automatically penciled into the top 6. Like Yandle was last season.

Hayes likes to have fun. Columbus is probably the most un-fun spot in the NHL after winter in Edmonton.

I could easily see him waiving for Arizona, Anaheim, Nashville, Vancouver, Montreal or San Jose or Chicago because fun, sun, golf, scene.

And he had 50 million reasons to move to north Jersey.

But not Columbus.

Or he could just take the lump sum and get paid by two teams.

To think that just 5 months ago, he was deemed not ready for the NHL season. What a coaching staff at Lehigh that built him back up.

What does that have to do with him playing like crap and finding himself in the AHL

Or just let the player gaining confidence and getting back to where he can play but go with whatever nonsense you make up to try and make your point

That's simple and this has been explained to you before. A player doesn't go from not being able to play in the NHL to being a player playing on the top pairing on his off side in a short period of time. The coach was full of crap.

What's nonsense is suggesting that he couldn't have done that very same thing in the NHL. He should've been on the team the entire season.

😂 the top pairing of the worst Dcore in the league. If he had started the season in the NHL, do you think he would be playing as well as he is today? That time in the AHL was very helpful for the player. All you experts complain about development and they actually do a player a solid and allow him to work through early season struggles and you can’t even admit it

There's a lot of spots between the top pairing and the AHL. Absolutely in my opinion he would be playing as he is if he started in the NHL. We had a 30 game sample the previous season that showed he was an NHL player. I can't speak for other experts but how they handled York in the beginning of the season is another indictment of the Flyers poor player development skills. Especially when they kept Zamula who clearly was not on the level of York or ready for the NHL. York didn't play that poorly in the pre season to merit the demotion. He should've made the team out of camp and I believe he would've been fine.

I always find it so comical that Fler fans must have a scapegoat. Just over last few yrs it was Hartnell...then Voracek...Then Giroux ...and now Hayes. Every year it's someone who needs to be removed from the locker room to change the culture yet nothing changes seems to just get worse

I would agree for the most part. IF he didn't play 30 games in the NHL the season before and look like he most certainly belonged. He could have worked through his struggles at the NHL level. In fact, he could have worked through his struggles at the NHL level in the preseason, but Torts had to be Torts. Probably ruining Zamula in the process because he wanted to show everyone how smart he is.

I am being dramatic of course as I don't think Zamula has been ruined. But he didn't do him any favors either in my opinion. Keeping him up and then scratching him didn't do much for HIS confidence. IMO York already showed enough.

It's not just that but it's how this years team was so different and played much harder and is more entertaining! This teams issue is not an has not been not playing hard. This team's issue is simply talent! Tortorella is better than the last two coaches but he not the miracle worker that some think he is. It even would be unfair to expect that.
