Best way to get out of this is building through the draft. The Flyers cannot bail themselves out of this mess with a trade, cap space or a major signing.

Makes you wish they had that 1st, 2 2nds, 3rd, 4th, and 7th round picks they traded for two 3rd pair defensemen.

Line up next year. Assuming no trades are made.

Hayes-Coots-TK
Farabee-Frost-Tippett
Laughton-Cates-Atkinson
?-Desnoyers-Deslaurier

Provy-York
Sanheim-Risto
Seeler-TA

Hart
Ersson

One open roster spot on the 4th line really. I do not expect much change. Unless of course they pay to move some of those contracts. Which with them is always possible. Basically the same for 24-25 as well.

Allison (I always forget about him) fills that 4th line wing spot. Tanner and Desnoyers duke it out for the 4th line center spot. So zero roster spots up for grabs really.

We’ll be trading provy for a 6th and 50 percent retained.

I hope so as well. But I do not think they have a lot to offer. Hayes has a low chance of being moved. TA has a medium chance of being moved. Atkinson, Coots and Ellis are not going anywhere. I am also not thrilled that Chuckles would be the one making any moves that would be made.

I think Provy & Hayes are not on the team by opening night of next season.

Trade TK and Provy. Obviously overpaid on a couple guys here but I actually don’t think his trades have been that bad. Braun both to and from /Niskanen/Giroux have all been solid trades

I’ve been saying all along that provy is gone. Especially since the incident with him not skating in warmup. The mighty overlord Comcast would not take kindly to that kind of negative press. I’m surprised he wasn’t released.

If only Comcast cared about icing a decent team as well…

Hayes definitely. Torts and Chuck both musing about his future with the team in pressers. Hayes basically saying IDGAF what happens when asked about it. The marriage is effectively over.

Chuck could fail to find a trade partner, like he did w/ JVR, but if that happens I think he just buys Hayes out.

Risto, Ellis and TA acquisitions have been a full on trainwreck. $17mil in cap space and 7 draft picks. One player will never play again. Another is a borderline 2nd pair D-man signed for 4 more years. TA is TA.

He did fine with the Giroux deal. Overall he has been terrible.

Does Comcast ever get any positive press tho? They're one of the most hated companies in the world.

I’d add that it’s possible Atkinson turns out a mess too. If he doesn’t recover there’s another swing and miss. Agree on your other points. Just a disaster and the worst part is this picks.

So is double shifting Tippett a thing now? Like an actual lineup strategy? Let's take the most promising young talent on the team, and run him into the ground as we play out the string of meaningless games. What could possibly go wrong? At least the Flyers have the best medical staff in all of sports if something should happen.

He's the only guy recently who looks like he can generate anything when he's on the ice. At least consistently.
