playing 11 forward is so cutting edge.

He already embarrassed himself at the trade deadline, next up drafting a stiff.

I still can’t believe that happened. It’s like we’re now in the twilight zone. I know a lot of people blame hextall for this, but his watch was not nearly as terrible as this. He seemed to be able to clear cap space and stockpile draft picks. The team is far worse record wise, and Chuck has us to the cap with several players who will likely never play again and can’t even get a 6th rounder for an expiring contract. He should have been working on this for a month with several options in play.looks like he called Detroit in the eleventh hour and it didn’t work out. Oh well. I can’t even. The pundits are lambasting him and the flyers org and rightfully so. I mean we’re on par with zona now imo.

retaining is not putting themselves in a bad position to me. They are not contending in the next 3 years in any way. Hayes at 50% should get a good return. Should the key word with this GM doubtful. a 40-50 point complimentary player for 3.5 is very good value.

Now should they trade him to appease the coach is another issue to discuss.

- hello it's me 2050

I keep Hayes if it’s only saving 3.5 million a year and there’s no assets coming back. Our all star GM has already said he won’t tear it down. Like he has that ability to do it with any actual competence anyway.

For everyone that thinks that the Flyers are 5 years away, this may not be about making Torts happy but rather will he be any good by the time the Flyers are? There’s a few guys that could be moved this summer if Fletchers thought process has changed.

Those who think "rebuild" means tanking is on the table might be disappointed.

More likely we're back to Hextall's stance of just treading water and drafting.

I fully expect we’ll spend any cap room on an aging vet, begin the year with Ellis and probably others on LTIR and be right back here next season

There’s enough blame to go around. You don’t get this bad without a bunch of bad decisions spread out over years. Hopefully they are swift enough to see Fletcher shouldn’t be the guy going forward and give this team some semblance of hope going forward. Because right now there is very little.

To double down on this stupid plan is beyond dumb.

I’d take that approach over whatever this is. I’m fine if we miss the playoff and draft top 10 for a couple years but we were sending out picks for players that capped us out and are broken. Then we’re told it’s a re tool then we don’t even do that. Then we have an opportunity to bottom out for a high pick and trade assets for picks at the TDL… oops. Can’t do that either.

If we can fletcher at least it provides a bit of hope. Outside media and fans see it. There’s no plan here other than be terrible every year but also capped out.

Hextall had stronger core to do that. I agree I don’t think Fletcher or who ever is making that decision will pivot and we’ll be in the same spot in 3 years. A few good not great 1rst round picks making contributions, a couple of over paid average FA’s and a bubble team that has to have a bunch of luck to compete.

So is double shifting Tippett a thing now? Like an actual lineup strategy? Let's take the most promising young talent on the team, and run him into the ground as we play out the string of meaningless games. What could possibly go wrong? At least the Flyers have the best medical staff in all of sports if something should happen.

Hopefully they'll keep inadvertently getting higher picks. And hopefully they'll accidentally draft some franchise players as a result.

It involves luck, reclamation projects and chipping away at all the mistakes he’s made….oh and the new catchphrase “we are going to get younger”. No more bias for action….no more aggressive retool. Just a bunch of excuses, with no tangible results.

To be fair the list of players that Torts doesn't hate is rather short these days.

This is going to be a long trip to next season. We need to challenge ourselves to come up with new material.

I’d love for us to can fletch and bring in a proven assistant gm who has had success executing a proper rebuild. The whole idea is to clear cap space so that you can compile picks hoping to hit on some of them. If you’re capped out, teams will ask for picks to take on dead weight. Fletch bent himself over the barrel with the bad contracts etc. ffs.

So that’s what. 3 different plans with associated catch phrases we’ve had in as many years? Unacceptable imo.

I mean they went into last off season saying aggressive retool then didn’t offer jg a contract. They’re not even following their own stated plan ffs.
