Trading two top-90 picks for a 32-yo isn't normally idea of a good idea, but the sheer amount of mileage they got out of Braun kinda tips the scales a bit for me. - Tomahawk
It was mileage that drove the team to nowhere. It was bad recognition of where the team is at and that they needed draft picks and prospects more than they needed a vet RH defenseman. |

And certainly no great trades. We can only dream that he could pull off a Devon Toews kind of deal or this fantasy Hayes for Roz + 1st deal.
 - Tomahawk
Trades like the Devin Toews trade are made when you have cap space and can bail a team out that is in a jam. |

Fair enough, I can agree with that POV.

It's interesting how much leeway OT is given to play his game despite having easily the worst 5on5 defensive results on the team. |

Niskanen and Giroux trades are the only good trades he has made. - MJL

There is nothing wrong with Seeler and he is not a UFA. He is signed for next year. - MJL
6 months ago you whined about him blocking a young player. my how the times have changed.

2nd and 3rd for Braun goes in the bad category for me. - MJL 2

ivan myers and sanheim needed help at that time; they had no vet direction on and off the ice. Help the previous GM neglected. It was a good trade.

maybe if the prior GM didn't neglect the d for x amount of years it wouldn't have been needed. Ronald failed yet again in this dept.

The player that I complained about blocking York was Keith Yandle. Not Seeler.
Just a fountain of trolling and misinformation. |

your smart figure it out. He is ok with Seeler in the top 6 lineup now, but not before? what changed? |

How are you still so fixated on Ron Hextall in March, 20223? He was fired in November 2018. That's an eternity in the NHL.

He should have made the team over Zamula, who is nowhere near as good or as NHL ready as York.

I am not. Just a reminder to cliff is all as to why they had to acquire Braun. Ronald is partly to blame for the lack of development by both ivan and Sanheim.
Why are you fixate don Cates every time Frost is mentioned?

that doesn't change anything I said about Seeler.
Though York clearly didnt have a good camp or games. |

This franchise suffered and had to overpay both in terms of trading and signing defenseman for a long time. Hextall was able to get a first round pick and Radko Gudas who was a solid player for the Flyers for an aging Brayden Coburn. After a black hole of drafted defenseman, Hextall drafted Sanheim and Provorov. He brought in vet players cheaply to give the team minutes such as Schultz and Del Zotto. Apparently Hextall ignored the defense. |

This season, yes. York should've been with the Flyers the entire season. Last season they preordained that York wasn't going to get a legit shot in camp by signing Yandle who was not at the time an NHL worthy player. |

Friedman thinks Hayes may end up in Columbus. - Feanor
With his play this year, I would expect that there would be some interest around the league in Hayes as a player, but gotta think that most GMs are still wary of 3 more years at $7.1M. Sure the Flyers could retain some salary to make it happen, or get a slightly better return. But Chuck will have to decide at what cost point does carrying dead salary for 3 years just become not worth it?
And did I see on here yesterday that Hayes now has a 12 team NTC? That could further complicate things. I would have to wonder if he would be okay with going to Columbus, another rebuilding team. Ultimately, I think Hayes gets moved but it seems it will be tricky. And unless the Flyers decide to retain a significant chunk of salary, I think the return would be underwhelming at best. |
