The fact that you keep beating the trade drums for both meier and chychrun despite our team clearly not being ready for prime time is mind numbing 😀😀😀

It's like you're doubling down, instead of seeing that one or both of those players wouldnt have pushed us into the playoffs.

Those guys were both playoff deadline deals, by playoff bound teams.

- Boss34

I push for those deals because they would have made us better today and the future. It's not just about just this year Boss. You seem to not be able to get that through your head.

This is very reasonable.

Just think it was a year or 2 early for a "go for it" playoff run by adding 2 guys who weren't long term affordable players IMO.

Sabres paying another winger long term 9 million for Meier made zero sense.
Trading for him to boost us this year made less sense if possible

Chryrun would be a great plug if we didnt already have 2 #1's OA to lead this team.
Again, this year , chryrun doesnt change 7-1 or 10- 4

All this bithxing and they ignore the fact that we had no goaltending.

We have No defense either!!

Maybe I need to slow this down for everyone to understand :

Sabres sign pk88 for all the obvious reasons.
Rings, jerseys, owners love affair, tickets, veteran leadership, guy that wants to be here....

Oh, and he's a good hockey player still and an on ice upgrade over Casey or olofsson

He signs here because we pay him more
He has a young family
He has a way out if to the rangers if we flop.

Sabres get a return for their investment

It’s like you root for a little league travel team.

Such sad reasons to want a washed up player.

Maybe we can agree on a few things.

Buyers trade prospects and players to nhl sellers , who give away veteran players for the future.

The deadline has both buyers and sellers

If the Sabres trades for either/ both player it would be a buyer move.

Most "future moves" for guys with limited years left and hefty contracts didnt make sense

No excuses this offseason.

Assets didnt expire. Imagine having those 2 and not making the playoffs this year?

Oh, were better for the future though.....

I understand there’s some underlying animosity here, but it’s a legitimate take. There’s a lot of reasons why this scenario makes sense.

He's a one way winger who has no interest or ability to play defense, needs prime power play time to produce numbers, and is about to turn 35 this coming fall.

Does it still make sense?

The team needs 200 foot forwards who are both defensively responsible and can also provide offense.

Adding another one way forward should be sending off alarm bells as to the quality of the idea.

I’m not suggesting the rest of the team remain static of course. Theres one scenario where you simply see an olafson for Kane swap in the line-up, plus whatever you get when you trade olafson. Sounds like a net positive to me.

Nope. But Gary from Blasdell will eat it up so I expect it to be a possibility

Well, the suggestion was also that Kane sign a 1 year deal. Unlikely he does that (unless he's chasing a cup), so then the question becomes how much term you're willing to give?

I don't think he fits at any term, but the idea of a 4-5 year deal should scare you away.

The premise was 1 year traylor hall type contract.

It was something to discuss during a 4 game losing streak.

There's legitimately reasons to have a buffalo hockey conversation about a buffalo born hockey player.

I listed the reasons, I wasnt even suggesting 2 years 🙄

This blog has been unbearable for a month. 90% of the post are just b*tching about how players, coaching and the gm suck.

The first year in a decade where we actually can see a future out of the depths of hell and this blog turns into a depressing cry fest.

Its the worst this blog has ever been. Take me back to the covid fighting blogs. Please!

average gm tenure is 3.5 years

most of the core pieces came under botts

adams moved eichel for tuch

we were 1 game under .500 when botts got fired

3 years later with dahlin, skinner, cozens, tage, power, tuch, etc we are 4 games above .500 and trending down

we have not won a playoff series since 2006

Went to Amerks game today. They seem to be playing just like the parent club. Offense was good. Controlled play in Toronto's end for much of the game. Generated a lot of opportunities. Their (not there) three goal were all pretty, especially the first and third ones. And their defense looked good giving up only 18 shots ... well 20 but the last two were empty net goals and that is because no matter how much offense they generated the Amerks were down 3-0 by midway through the second. Four goals on 18 shots. Bonus: 0 for 7 on the power play. Losing games when they matter.
