"You've got to learn how to manage a game as we've talked about managing situations. Awareness of need is the first part of an opportunity to learn. Hopefully we can apply some of that to tomorrow and keep it."

Every time I hear him or KA, I just assume they are including themselves in this. All their comments make more sense when you do.

Samuelsson-Joker would be a respectable 3rd pair. Now, way too expensive. If you keep playing Joker in the top 4, you either have to move him or be prepared to pay him like he belongs there.
Everyone on D has a year left on their deals, except RFA Clague. Every move screams that they want to bring this group back. - Lunaion
I agree with this post.
So dahlin and power (top 4)
Samuelsson-joker (bottom 2)
Boosh as a 7th.
Could Johnson slide into the #4 spot? Are we looking at upgrades at the 3rd and 4th defenseman spots....
I agree, if this is what your saying. |

Thought Panthers were gonna go 7D tonight with Duclair out sick and Fitzgerald in the lineup. But Maurice actually has him playing 4th line rw to start game. Has he ever played forward before? |

The announcer said Fitzgerald has played forward, just not at the nhl level.

Not sure how you jumped to that.
I don't expect Johnson in the NHL next year, let alone instantly top 4.
With almost everyone under contract next year, I'm braced for minimal or no change. I don't expect Joker gets an extension and is gone this summer or next.
Stillman + Lyubushkin 3rd pair next year. These are guys KA picked and has on term.

This is good...
Seems like a 1st round pick like Johnson is gonna get some decent NHL minutes IMO.
He would be an older rookie and a guy the Sabres left a spot open for to develop.
Hes a guy that would be held back by signing chryrun.
I'm not having that convo though... |

You're surprisingly inconsistent on these topics. The spot they have is the following year. Johnson skipping the AHL while they have 2 3LD's signed for next year....clear as day they plan to give him a year in Roch.

I guess I felt like Johnson signs in the next couple weeks, and plays 6- 8 games this year. Battles with stillman at camp and wins easily....
This team did not sign stillman long term, they took on 1 more year. Waive him back and forth if needed.
Johnson should slow roll his progress and learn the pro game in Rochester as you suggested .... |

It takes a bit longer with small market teams and a very money conscience budget.
We traded our franchise captain mid season last year.
We made some very significant trades with sam and risto as well. You just cant jump that quickly IMO.
I think its fair to give the Sabres this season for growth and not making splash in season trades.
It's ok to disagree on the expected time line for a young team. 🤝 - Boss34
I agree on a lot of your posts tonight boss. Adam's has been fine in my opinion. It was always about this off-season. Guys played better then expected.
He's going to sign some FAs
Make a hockey trade (Olo and Rosen gone) for a D
Draft 2 D with our top 3 picks
Hopefully Johnson signs
D is fine then. Hopefully a goalie comes from somewhere else.
Offense will be having guys come up over the next few years supplementing our lineup |

This is a team who loves to slow roll, but 1 year in the AHL for a late 1st D is not a slow roll.

I’m assuming it’s Peca coaching the Power Play in Rochester ?
How isn’t he employed by the Sabres yet? |

Samuelsson picked 32 in 2018
Johnson picked 31 in 2019
Johnson should be scheduled for a 8 year extension next year if he keeps pace.
Power played last year at 19
Dahlin at 18/19
Seems like the opposite of what your suggesting based on our current defenseman 🤔 |

Samuelsson spent approximately a year and half in Roch. Bryson spent 1. Johnson is slated for 1.
Johnson is closer to Clague than a #1 overall.

I think Johnson starts out on Roch as well purely because numbers game but wouldn’t surprise me if he’s in a Sabres uniform by the deadline (due to either performance or injuries or both) |

Really? I think he’s 100% in the NHL and that’s what’s going to determine who he signs with. If the Sabres guarantee him a spot that might be the only reason he signs |

With no prospects in the way, call up is his for the taking. Easy path if he plays well.

To burn a year or next season? Burning is probably a given.

Kulich scored again tonight.
Rosen 1 +1
Savoie with 1 +2 tonight as well with still time left in the third.
