look at what montour is doing for florida
we had him on the wing
if adams had just kept him and ullmark where would we be now?

What's the one good move? I'd like to hear this one π
Has to be a goalie right?
They added ben bishop, how good to you think the management thought we were πππ - Boss34
Guess I should have expected the pro-Adams take, but I also thought you liked this team. They could have made the playoffs with what they had. Slight improvement anywhere could have done it: coach, G, D, F.
This hasn't gone off the rails because the team is bad.

He did he lovveeed this team.
The narrative changes to be pro Adams.
Adams could have traded Tuch and Thompson for nothing and itβd still be pro Adams and how super duper amazing best GM in the league he is. |

Doubt anyone wants to hear it but Oh Well!!
Sabres have enough forward prospects coming through the system where they can basically build there offense from within. If they choose to, doesn't mean they couldn't use another top 6. There Defense is a bit of a problem, as they do not have the prospects to build there D core. It's a big problem and it should be a very high priority this offseason. The Sabres will not move forward as a Team unless they fix there Defense. - Buff36
Very good post, maybe we can trade a forward prospect for a defenseman prospect.
Similar to nylander for joker.

Who thinks he is the greatest GM? The sabres are getting better in spite of who is running it, and coaching it. with a huge bunch of luck piled on as well. Hence why I haven't been to a sabres game in about 8 years.

You knew the playoffs weren't in the plans, based on goaltending alone.
The bishop move tipped everyone off. It was a good run.

I'm not sure why we couldn't pull off a non hockey trade, one almost ready forward for one almost ready defenseman. This offseason?
A better nylander for a better joker......
Everyone loves kulich, savoie ect.
Gotta give to get. |

I absolutely love what Adam's and his management team have done.
Draft: 1 just a few years
Quinn
Peterka
Power
Savoie
Kulich
Rosen
Ostlund
Win the eichel trade
Win the risto trade
Win the reinfart trade.
Move tage to center
Sign tage to the best contract in the nhl
Sign cozens to a great contract
Play an upbeat exciting brand of hockey, where the team competes and wins games just 1 year after finishing dead last.
You guys just complain π₯

We didn't finish dead last, last year they finished 9th worst. As of right now based on the standings they have moved up 2 spots...
It's cool to like what he has done, there are some good things in there, the issues are what he has failed to do.
Find another top 4 D so he isn't running Dahlin and Power to the ground (which looks like it happening)
Find a real NHL goalie that isn't 41 years old
The fact remains, we have several players having career years, and it will be a failed season in the eyes of many people. |

They were wrong about where the team was at. They were wrong on some key evaluations. They struggled getting the roster to fit together.
Face it, management/coaching is why they are falling out of this race. It was there for the taking.

Management is focused on the long term instead of the present.
What this year showed them is that the future is closer than perhaps they anticipated.
A team does not take on Ben Bishop to get to the cap floor if they are in a playoff or bust mindset.
It was clearly a developmental year to put their young players in situations for them to get as much experience as possible.
Quinn, Peterka, Power, Samuelsson were not on the opening night roster the year before.
Cozens got free rein on the 2C position and took it and ran with it.
Adams has laid out his plan pretty clearly in his press conferences from the beginning of the offseason.
Does it suck that the drought extends another year with some of the individual performances on the team ? Sure.
The time to push the chips to the table is coming within the next few seasons though.

It didnt really come together.
The lack of a true goalie was very obvious if you put aside the blinders.
4 true rookies in quinn, peterka, power and upl
A good first line
Cozens had a break thru year.
Jost from waivers
You hate mitts, olo and girgensons
Krebs was good
Okposo is old
You know all of this. 1 trade deadline wasnt gonna improve thewe weaknesses IMO
Or age this team into a playoff spot |

I know that's seen as a good trade, but he was a #8 pick. Trading Cozens, Quinn, or Savoie for that a caliber D would be tragic. What made the trade good was making a timely decision on Nylander and getting what they could. Never-ending evaluations are the opposite.
Prospect for prospect deals are usually guys who have fallen out of favor. Not a great way to fix your D

So management canβt focus on a present and long-term solution all in one because if they canβt, they should be fired immediately. |

I think there's valid points on both sides of the fence.
I appreciate this conversation...
There should be some serious roster restructuring this offseason. I just think it was a bit early to expect vast changes in a self proclaimed evaluation year.
Sabres should have learned
Line 1 is for real
Quinn and peterka good nhl top 12 players
Cozens is an nhl top 2 center
Olofsson still inconsistent, not the alleged injury, just his game
Mitts is a legit 3rd line nhl player
Jost is a guy you can get for free
Okposo completely shot
Girgensons ain't cutting it
Krebs versatility up and down the line up
Dahlin is the man
Power needs a partner
Joker blows
Bosh smells
Bryson isnt getting better
And goaltending....
They learned a lot , hopefully

I'm pretty sure they the Sabres brass had them at a fake. 500 team this season. Maybe 82-86 points
Your fandom had them at +12 chasing a playoff spot βοΈ
At 92+ points.
Reality should be setting in soon pal. |

Let's give KA a pass for his first year. Should it really take 2 more full evaluation years to come to some of these conclusions? Are they just slow at evaluating, or bad at doing anything about it?
Coming out of this season learning Power needs a better partner is pretty gross. Should have been working on that from the second they drafted him.
