Adams failed to take advantage of some reasonably priced high-end talent available at the deadline. Despite glaring deficiencies, and a deep pipeline of prospects and picks that outstrips our available roster spots. The teams around us in the standings did not make that mistake. They are surging and we are fading. The failure in this equation continues to be the actions of the organization that refuses to behave like a winning franchise. Some of you still want to shill for them as they insult our intelligence with BS stories about how we weren’t getting the same deals. I think these people have become comfortable with losing. - SoCalPucks
They didn’t swing on Meier or Chychrun, doesn’t mean they won’t make a swing this offseason (which could be much more of a buyers market).
I don’t think that makes me a sucker for being patient with the youngest roster in the league.
Especially when most of the cup winning rosters of the last decade were predominantly home grown players that were drafted and developed by the franchise |

Yep laptop GM would have traded for one or the other Timo or Chychrun. And yes laptop GM thinks either one would have helped. It's kinda idiotic not to think Chychrun could have helped lesson the blow of the injuries on the backend or Timo could have helped with Tuch being out. Kinda stupid actually. - Buff36
It's kinda foolish to make 2 big splash trades, "to lesson the blow. "
Sabres aren't ready yet. All those assets , picks ect didnt expire at the trade deadline. We still have them.
If you cant see that the Sabres are more then 1 or 2 good players away at this point, I can't help you. |

Yes and even after the TDL we would have had most of them. No I can see we are more than a player or 2 away, doesn't mean those players acquired doesn't help. |

it's just as foolish to have 5 guys with career years in dahlin, cozens, tage, tuch and skinner
and do nothing to get your team in the playoffs
that's literally 5/18 of your skaters going off, 6 if you think power is playing decent
adams better stop wussyfooting around with the lack of improving this roster
time to stop being a hoarder and instead act like an nhl GM

Well they will all have career years next year too. Plus others will have career years.
That’s how progression works, you just keep getting better.
Just look at how Vancouver ended last year one game out of the playoffs….. they improved on that and didn’t have to tear it all down……..

Top 4 dman
Competent to good goalie.
That puts this team in the playoffs. |

Adam's has upgraded.
Clague
Jost
Stillman
Greenway
Plus the off season of
Comrie
Boosh
Close to 1/3 of the team got upgraded. Right in front of your eyes. Still screaming for 1/2 the roster overhaul in 1 season? Seams demanding. |

Could you not be reading between the lines?
Did KA realize his 1st round pick was if much more value?
I thought KA generally mentioned it wasnt the exact same trade purposed to both teams? I could be mistaken? |

He’s in real danger of losing these kids to the losing mentality that permeates the entire organization. Ottawa stepped up and publicly stated they owed it to their players to improve. Does anyone think our locker room didn’t read that? What message did that send to the team? Does KA think he’s going to be able to re-sign Dahlin if this persists?

Friendly bet.
New Jersey’s high powered offense is stifled quite easily this postseason and their young guys struggle to adapt to postseason hockey and they go out relatively easily
Next year they are serious contenders. Not this year.
My point being I think this year, when getting Molly whopped by Boston could’ve given the Sabres what it takes to score and win in the playoffs and would’ve better prepared t them for years to come |

Is it possible for them to acquire a top 4 d-man without moving a 1st round pick and 2 second round picks ?
I think it is.
If Adams is able to make his first round selection this year in a deep draft and still acquire said top 4 d-man would you be ok with that ?

"Seravalli reported that one NHL general manager he spoke with predicted that the Sabres could be the “beast of the East” in two years."
Could be...I believe Adams has made a lot of positive changes and I have watched almost every game this year for the first time in a long time. I am excited about this team. But I struggle to accept a 12-year playoff drought. Had they made the play-in during COVID maybe I could accept this year. But 12 years without a playoff game is tough. And then to be soooo close at the trade deadline and do pretty much nothing. It's disheartening. So while I am hopeful they can become the beast of the East, he'd better make some major investments on D and in net this summer. - Fogolin
Bring back Lee Fogolin. He's probably in his late 60's now but would still show the kids what grit and heart can add to talent |

I think everyone here is beaten the horse to death that come playoff time generally the teams that defend the best go deeper in the playoffs.
I don’t think we needed the Sabres to get whipped by Boston for them to realize they will need to be able to win 2-1 hockey games when the going gets tough.
Coaching and personnel both share equally in the struggle in that regard.

Punting a Norris season from Dahlin and probably 47-50 goal year from Thompson is just unforgivable. They might’ve not made it anyways but if he seriously addressed the goalie and D position we’d be a lot closer. - sbroads24

Takes 5 minutes of reading to know this draft isn’t like the ones before it.
Just like how the 2015 draft wasn’t just “another draft” but I digress |

This is an over simplification.
It’s knowing how to win in different ways.
There’s plenty of 5-4 playoff games
Avalanche scored 7,4,3, and 2 goals in their 4 wins vs Tampa.
They won playing d and they won scoring. |
