Yup. Farewell Sharangovich. A shame we couldn’t turn him into something that fits better. I’m sure we’ll have injuries and he’ll find a spot again.

Jack has had a rough go at it lately. I don't mind his defensive lapses but obviously the offense needs to be there to support it. Haven't really had a dominant game from him in a while, which is okay since we're a pretty balanced group but stuff like is a learning experience for him.

You have a lead with 5 minutes left in the game, you just can't lose in regulation. Lazy backchecking on the 3rd goal by Jack and i have no idea where McLeod was going on the 4th, just floating into no mans land instead of recognizing who the actual threat was. Just not good enough, throwing away an overall solid game outside of a bit of the 2nd period.

And once again, the 5th straight game with a sub .900 save% for Vitek. The loss isnt on him, but you gotta make a big save at some point. Definitely concerning, we aren't beating anybody in the playoffs if this is the goaltending we get.

McLeod has to be on the ice to blow defensive assignments because it's just that important to win a faceoff 10% more of the time than an actual competent player.

I didn’t see the first goal, but it was blown coverage on the last 3. Caught puck watching and forgetting where the danger actually is. Wide open opportunities.

First goal was like the third goal. No one covered the trailing player and had a easy tap in for a goal. Devils beat themselves this game. Just dumb mistakes and good teams will take advantage

4th line caved in by the Nylander line yet again sweet mercy.
- MartysBetter88

Honestly this was the biggest problem and you’d have to think a coaching change might bring in someone smart or unbiased enough to really sit some of these pylons and not leave that line out against those guys. Just dumb.

These types of games will be what limits NJ in the playoffs because in a series these games are hard to get past the demoralizing effect, particularly for young players.

A better coaching staff would know this and do their best to account for it.

I think part of the team taking the next step will be changes to the staff to take them there.
Better team defense and a bonafide #1 goalie would go a long ways too, but they’re gonna be tight on the cap so I can’t see a better goalie coming in without losing a decent starter + a high pick.

I’d play him over any of the guys on the 4th line. A winning team with decent coaching staff would find a spot for him to excel and play him to his strengths. I can’t think of any strengths for the 4th line.

Lol. Can’t wait till we extend Bratt and our 3rd line is more expensive than our 1st

Jack's line needed to be split up so I don't really see a problem here.

I like it.. for now. Definitely balances the attack more and Bo has looked good. Apprehensive cuz I don’t want being on the 3rd line for too long to potentially negatively impact Bratt’s vibe with staying here.

We could even do
Tatar-Hischier-Sharangovich
Meier-Hughes-Boqvist
Palat-Mercer-Bratt
Wood-Haula-Bastian

Talk about 3 lines that can do damage. But Ruff will never ever do this.

I'd rather see McLeod over Bastian and/or Wood on your 4th line. I thought Bastian looked so slow and out of place Tuesday night.

That's fine. You could even run Lazar-Haula-Holtz as a 4th line and go crazy lol. I'm currently loving my 4 lines lol and won't be satisfied until I see them, which will be never. 4 lines that have scorers on them, and defensively responsible players. I shall post them again.

Meier-Hughes-Boqvist
Tatar-Hischier-Sharangovich
Palat-Mercer-Bratt
Lazar-Haula-Holtz

I mean, what else do you need? There is a leader on every line. I think playing with Tatar and Hischier would help Sharangovich. Palat-Mercer-Bratt should be able to run wild facing weaker D competition. And Lazar-Haula have experience, can grind, but aren't inept offensively.. which would leave Holtz free to fire away. Maybe we'll see Mercer 3rd line C next season if they don't bring back Haula. I feel like on a Cup championship team, Haula is more a 4th line center for great depth.

But really, we know Bratt is best in the top 6.. but Boqvist has been playing well, skating well, and could be a nice fit with Meier-Hughes. Sharangovich may feel more empowered and motivated to perform while playing alongside the captain, who also happens to be defensively responsible and plays hard. And that 3rd line is money, providing Mercer can hold down the center spot.. where we haven't seen him play tons this year.

I still have PTSD from that one season we lost 17 shootouts in a row because I just assume a shootout is a loss.

Is it time to jump on the Schmid train. The two goals he gave up were just lucky bounces. But other than that i enjoy watching him.

I think we will see a lot of Schmid the next few weeks by default. Devils play A LOT of hockey over the next 10 days.....
