Okay. What the hell happened last night in the new Stadium? Half these guys probably won't be at Hawk training camp come fall.

I didn't get to watch the game and I look at the box score this morning and a shutout with Seth Jones scoring 2 goals? Was he deferring to Kane and Domi for 3/4 of a season?

And the Icelandic singer-songwriter, Björk, with 3 assists? Reichel with one ( I'm glad my player evaluation is most likely incorrect).

Ottawa came in on a bit of a roll, I thought for sure it was going to be another Hawks loss. Nicely done boys.

Funny. The Hawks were one of (if not) the best team in the league on face-offs. They now can barely win one and they somehow look more competitive.

This game I did get to watch and was thinking something similar. Jones' first goal was off a nice feed from the Icelandic songbird but he really took the play over in the Sens zone.

Kurashev's goal was a nice toe drag move and Reichel provided a nice decoy driving to the net. Thouhgt Reichel had a good game and was pretty noticeable even before his goal. On his score, he got a pass around center ice and was even with Chychrun at the time. Blew past him and put a nice move on Sogaard to tuck the puck in.

Not on you and wouldn't worry about getting a player eval wrong...the next game he (Reichel) goes without a point, the true talent scouts will be on here crying the Hawks should've taken Mercer or someone else from the '20 draft.

The former on Nashville and the later on Montreal will also become good solid players. Askarov has been very good in the AHL and had an NHL game- is a lofty glove hand. Guhle was playing well earlier this season for Montreal but I haven’t paid attention lately. He might be injured

Hawks won the ADB trade if only it helped the tank.

I cringe when you compare KK to Klingberg, who has amassed the worst defensive metrics on the worst defensive team in the league this year. (yes that even includes Murphy).

I bet we will see that BOTH Mercer and Reichel step up next season and become good NHL players. In that draft Bowman was interested in drafting Askarov and Guhle (sic). The former on Nashville and the later on Montreal will also become good solid players. Askarov has been very good in the AHL and had an NHL game- is a lofty glove hand. Guhle was playing well earlier this season for Montreal but I haven’t paid attention lately. He might be injured

Just realized Montreal had three rookies on defense this season: Xhekaj the big tough Russian, Guhl the #15 overall Reichel draft year, and Harris (I think he was a collegiate).

That is three rookies playing well enough to stick in the lineup. And Montreal traded Petry + willing to move Edmundson at trade deadline. So they believe in those kids

I looked and saw Guhl has been out injury on March 5. Harris had over 21 TOI last game

I say now with some pro experience, we too could have three rookies on defense next season. By the trade deadline or sooner: Vlasic, Phillips, and either Roos or Korchinski

I believe both DelMaestro and Allen should play one season AHL. I am quite high on the skill, skating style game from Kaiser and foresee him as making the NHL.

Mitchell is a big question mark and I do not think Regula or Galvas if they play NHL it will be for another team. I am curious to see Crevier progression next season whereas other dmen prospects are longer term projections

Mercer already has over 20goals this year. You should watch other teams play too.

Xhekaj Is Canadian. His parents are from Albania and the old Czech Republic. Arbor was born in Hamilton Ontario.

Yea i don't know how anyone expected any type of chemistry when KD traded and sat players before the Yotes game. I even said they'll be lucky to get to 55 points. They were definitely out of sync, but then every game they played better and better and better. Did not expect 5-0, nice to see a win and hate to say it but this team may win too many games by season end and they may end up drafting in the 5th slot. Where does KD find these kids.

I really like how they are handling Reichel, now he stays with the big club till seasons end, hopefully.

They were definitely out of sync, but then every game they played better and better and better. Did not expect 5-0, nice to see a win and hate to say it but this team may win too many games by season end and they may end up drafting in the 5th slot. Where does KD find these kids.

it is interesting that Bjork (and Austin Wagner the other scrap heap pick up at the deadline0, have the same traits as Lafferty, speed, speed and more speed. that are not "natural" goal scorers.

Yea the compete one is my favorite, i was as impressed with Bjork backchecking and preventing a grade A chance by i think it was Stutzle, as i was with his ozone play.

And on top of all that you've got these compete guys with some puck skills as well, curious to see how it goes the rest of the way.

Another thing is how many 50 50 pucks did we win last night 4 out 5? Probably why Tkachuk was so frustrated his team was being rag dolled most of the night.

KD's reshuffling of the pro scouting department seems to be paying dividends. Stewart out, MacIver back in, Eaton promoted. As mentioned elsewhere, instead of just acquiring a player because of name, they look for a player that fits into the way the Hawks want to play.

Faceoff winning percentage is not as important as when you win the faceoff. Not all faceoffs are equal.

something i think they are looking at doing when drafting and making sure rockford is doing the same thing. watched the interview with the player developement lady last night and it sounds like everyone is on the same page. love it

They're situational. On the PK in your own end they're pretty damn important.

Faceoff winning percentage is not as important as when you win the faceoff. Not all faceoffs are equal.

Retaining possession after winning the faceoff is helpful too.

It seems like LR pulled Seth aside and said:
1) This could be your team now.
2) We are not going to win many games the rest of the year. So I am not going to be critical of you opening up your game and using your creativity. Just go play and have fun. When you see a chance to be more involved in the offense take it. (At the same time LR tells the forwards if Seth is on the ice you need to have you head on a swivel. Look for him on the offensive end. If he goes to the net or into a corner one of you need to cover for him on D.)

Winning teams like montreal play a system and draft players who fit in that system… not necessarily the most talanted. Hawks need to do the same.

Korchinski reminds me of Keith in that he can cover space extremely quickly and has a gliding speed that rivals most forwards. His stride is far less erratic and jittery as Keith’s, but his game also lacks the same intensity as Keith’s so far. He kind of reminds me of a Heiskanen or Girard too with his ability to carry the puck in and participate in cycles without getting bogged down in a board battle or puck in the skates.
