Absolutely on the Tatar/Graves taking discounts to stay here and Sevo getting his money elsewhere.

Has vitek hit a wall? Seems lately he has been giving 3+ goals a game up,

Not saying all the goals are on him but he isn't playing as well as he was earlier

Yeah he's been real poop the last 4 games. His save % the last 4 starts: .765%, .864%, .737%, and .862%. Dropped his overall save% from .916% to .908% and his GSAx dropped from +8.3 to +1.6...Devils are still 3-1 in those 4 games, but that isn't going to cut it in the playoffs. He needs a reset.

Statistically speaking, his .908 save percentage is exactly what he had in Washington for two years. (His GAA in Washington was ~2.68 vs. 2.50 in New Jersey).

Just my opinion but I don't think V.V. is an elite level goalie.

Yeah he's definitely not an elite goalie, I dont think anyone has said otherwise. Hes been a slightly above average goalie in the NHL and he's never played more than 42 games, but he needs to be a hell of a lot better than he's been in this last 4 starts. He's been worse than last years goaltending in this short stretch. Almost single handedly lost the Avs game. His confidence has to be shot at this point, total low point of the season for sure.

Part of our potential cap troubles comes into whether or not we'll be able to afford a good second goalie. Pretty sure Blackwood is done with the team, not only because of his play level but his injury history.

Vitek is a good gap goalie. Blackwood is good as gone (hopefully) and NJ will need a legit goalie to consistently contend with such a young defense. Especially since it appears they’ll be moving on this offseason from Severson and maybe more. My fear is NJ is content to develop Vitek, Schmid, and Daws and not seek an upgrade. I think that would be foolish.

We can only afford so much. I think we’re riding with the 3 you mentioned and I’m ok with that. The games I’ve seen this year, Smid has looked good.
