Honestly, Scott really has no choice but to replace Fletcher even if he somehow still believes Fletcher deserves to keep his job. The optics of yesterday's deadline along with the ridiculous moves that Fletcher has made over the past season (Sanheim contract, trading for DeAngelo, resigning Risto), and being a year too late in realizing the need to take advantage of the 2023 draft (only 1 pick in the first 2 rounds) to obtain top-end talent would be enough for any person to make a change. I don't see how Fletcher will survive this season. Any honestly, Briere is NOT ready either. Scott needs to bring a good GM from the outside that wants to work with Torts and turn this mess around. |

So on the broadcast for the leaf game tonight between period they were talking about the deadline. Apparently the "big moves" for the Flyers will be done at the draft. Whatever that really means.
Which to be fair, is the time when guys with more contracts like Hayes/Provorov/whomever are usually moved and dealt with.
The question is, will CF be the guy to do it or someone else? I know what everyone here wants. |

I think JvR could have been moved.
I think Fletcher couldn’t move him.
I think there were offers for JvR within the last week.
Fletcher waited because he believed he had a valuable piece to move. He overvalued him. - SuperSchennBros
I'll say it again, if a team wanted JVR they could have had him. NO ONE WANTED HIM. You watched JVR over the past 2 seasons, do you really think a contending team would want JVR??? |

It has to be someone else, Fletcher cannot survive this season. |

I think the term of the Sanheim contract is too long. I don't feel he is a max term player but it's not a ridiculous move. Sanheim is a good player.
There are some who believe that Fletcher will be removed after the season. We can only hope. |

Chuck Fletcher will move on to focus on his role as co-president, and introduce new GM and head coach John Tortorella. |

God help us. Then again, maybe it's a good thing. Might mean it will be sooner that Tortorella is fired. |

Spot on! Who wants an aging player who had his best seasons 5-6 years ago. Yea, he puts up points, but is a one dimensional player who is soft despite his size. I admit he helped elevate Frosty and Tipper a bit, but he was never a difference maker.

I don’t think there’s a “good GM” to be found that wants to work with these meddling dinosaurs in the front office.
Chuck is the perfect straw man but I do agree he needs to go or the fanbase will go berserk. Time to throw Briere into the dumpster fire and take all the heat. Poor guy. |

He can't be worse than what we've got, even if it's not enough. He's good on the stick, and a lot of fans seem to have deep faith in him. I don't think Torts is going anywhere. |

What?? Sanny is a Hexy pick! Doesn't that qualify for him being a stud? All jokes aside, I agree the contract is too long. I never was a big Sanny fan his first few years here. That said, he was great last year and I changed my tune on him. Yes, this year he hasn't been as solid, but we are a terrible team so it is difficult to judge.

No not anytime soon but he will need to go once his usefulness is used up. That won't be long relatively speaking. It's not good news for Flyers fans if this team is molded in his vision. Not if there is any hope of a Cup in the future. Sounds complete ludicrous to be referencing the Cup in a Flyers conversation.

I like Sanheim as a player but he has not had a good year.

I agree. You have to think that the sad state of the team has something to do with it. I was looking forward to seeing him progress based on how he stepped it up last season. Knowing that your team has no chance to make the playoffs has to be demoralizing to players and obviously can affect their play

I said last summer they would not likely be able to move him at the deadline. But I honestly thought he had looked pretty good this year and his scoring would be up with some better line mates. I was shocked that they couldn’t move him. A competent GM gets something done with him is my opinion |

You post like 50 plus times a day. You say a lot of things, most of which I don’t respect what you say. Every dog gets a bone but when you’re screaming that the 8th worst team in the league’s coach should win the Jack Adams, that makes you someone to ignore.
Jordan Greenway was traded for draft picks. Yes he’s much younger than JvR but he’s still a much lesser player. Greenway has a 3 million dollar cap hit, JvR at 3.5 remained I’d take over Greenway all day everyday.
The problem in my opinion is the general manager. |

Buffalo has the 3rd-most goals in the league. They don't need scoring help. They have the 5th-best PP in the league. They don't need PP help.
What they do need is more size and defensive help.
That's why they traded picks for Greenway instead of JVR. The TDL is about filling gaps and bringing in bodies to throw at the PO grind. Not adding the "BPA" for the money. |

I never said anything specific linking JvR and Buffalo. There are 32 teams in the league. |

I don't believe this for a second. I see no evidence that JVR helped Tippet. I believe the coaching and encouragement of what Tippet can be from Torts is the primary reason Tippet is starting to demonstrate he can be a dynamic player. Most nights, its Tippet and TK that elevate the rest of the team! |

JVR 3 years ago I would agree with you. JVR of today, I take Greenway all day; not that I want that stiff either. Regarding Torts, you need to relax and understand satire a bit. Of course Torts does not deserve the Jack Adams award based on the definition of the award which I posted in a subsequent post. My point was targeted to those that were calling Torts an archaic coach, that Torts had actually evolved and was doing a fantastic job this year. |
