I just want to add this. I am not sticking up for Fletcher BUT who is going to give up 3 plus million in cap space and an mid round draft pick or young prospect for a player who is at the end of his playing days. JVR is probably going to retire after this season and at least the Flyers get that cap hit off the books. Remember the Flyers could not even give him away at the Last expansion draft.

This has been burning down since the great lockout. The league was changing and the biggest holdout was philly. Refusing to change with it. Sure they compiled a little as time went on but the divide became greater. When hexy was hired there was a belief they finally “got it” hey even I was suckered in. But once he was fired with the bias for action bs it became extremely clear it was a ruse.

EVERYTHING they have done with fletch proves that they will NEVER get it. All the talk and debate about direction of players trades contracts hirings firings plans etc is all bs. Comcast doesn’t give a flying (frank) about team or season ticket holders or anything other than bottom line. Here’s the priority

1) profits

That’s all. What are the profits. What is the roi in flyers? They are a company that has proven that. They WILL fire cf soon. Probably Scott too. And they market it and either profit from it or try to set up a course of action to profit from it

The cruel thing is they don’t see or won’t see that a total rebuild is in their best interest. Because they don’t understand the new nhl. Never have. Never will.

Eventually they will get rid of the drain that is the flyers. Hopefully. Maybe not. Maybe they see flyers as a means to other profits within the business.

Either way. Not good for the actual fans of this team. You have a choice. Let this poop consume you or watch from afar.

- SMS4016

You said it. I watch from afar and catch the fee highlights that this team has. CF should have tanked and bottomed out this year but instead he did the opposite.
It's a damn joke. The fact he even has a job and is being given free reign to this upcoming draft means it'll be another 2 or 3 years longer til we are relevant again.
We have 1 draft pick in the first two rounds in the deepest draft in a decade.

It's an absolute poop show. I watch other teams just because I love hockey but it's not the same.
They have screwed the fans so badly that we have turned ravenous on them. Noisy will care again until the FO is removed and replaced. At least I hope that is the case

At the end of the day, this is the biggest factor. JVR just wasn't as attractive as other options. It's a shame we don't have a better GM who can make the puck bounce his way once in a while, but that's hockey.

Since when do you start believing wh the GM says? When it is convenient for you?

It will eventually leak out, is that fact or opinion?

The Devils gave up a 4th round pick for Curtis Lazar. He's got 5 points in 45 games.

makes me think the player the wings were trying to move was JVR. they were the ones trying to bargain and extra pick to retain money. don't know if they could retain, just a thought.

I am not getting the vibe that a GM change is imminent. But I could be wrong.

That meeting last Sunday, the one between Chuck, Scott and Torts that basically put them all on the same "rebuild" page.... is it possible that we can gather some clues from that?

If they had any plan to fire Chuck after this season, would they have invited him to help plan out the team's next steps? Probably not, right?

And Torts... he must have some pretty influential backers in the org (Barber, Lombardi, Homer?) to be sitting in on high level meetings with Scott. The pecking order must not be as clear cut as he stated. And for him to be constantly throwing shade at Chuck in public... he must have quite a bit of clout.

He's a banger, grinder and auxiliary PKer... and his cap hit is 1/7 of JVR's.

Didn't Fletchy say he was willing to retain 50% of JVR cap hit?

Best thing that can happen in the short term is another 10 game winless streak. Flyers don't get a win against DET, a really great shot it will be accomplished. There is between 2-4 players on the roster who are not on a first contract that could be part of the rebuild. The rest need to be removed ASAP. Getting those regulation losses reinforces the point.

Imo it’s hard to imagine that only the brilliant Yzerman saw value in JVR. The TC media has been reporting for months that the Wild were looking to add Boeser or JVR.

Boeser was the front runner but everyone knew his term was problematic. Only a great deal of creativity by the Wild and flexibility by the Canucks could get it done. On Monday or Tuesday Lou Nanne told the local media that the Wild couldn’t afford Boeser.

The Wild then signed Johansson a lesser player than JVR. Johansson was a bust in Minny in a top six role two years ago.

Bill pointed out earlier that JVR had ties to Minnesota and suggested that he would be amenable to coming to Minnesota. It’s kind of weird that Guerin would not talk to Fletcher before overpaying a 3rd for Johansson. I don’t know. Maybe he did and Fletcher tried to squeeze him.

50% is still over three Lazars... significantly narrows potential landing spots.

If he added JVR then you couldn't have added Klingberg, right?

Yes. But Klingberg is Addison. Guerin didn’t have to have him. Guerin had been in on Klingberg for awhile but balked. When Guerin realized Klingberg’s value had cratered, he want back and squeezed Anaheim. He got Klingberg because it was a steal.

I seriously doubt that JVR is going to retire. Someone will sign him to a contract. Jake Voracek was also left unprotected in that expansion draft.

I think JvR could have been moved.

I think Fletcher couldn’t move him.

I think there were offers for JvR within the last week.

Fletcher waited because he believed he had a valuable piece to move. He overvalued him.

No discussion of Torts' practice presser?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Tq4Y-4YJTI

He continues to be a good talker and much more comfortable in front of the camera than his boss. Big time defense of Chuck's deadline, I'm sure everyone's excited to hear that.

Sad it looks like Jake won't be back in the ice until some future alumni charity game.
