I know it's 2 4th liners, but they moved 2 effort guys in MacEwen & Brown for a 6th rounder and a biter. i mean, at the very least Brown worked his arse off and MacEwen too - he gave them energy from the bottom 6. What is Lemieux going to give them ? I thought Brown was a good bottom 6 guy. The problem is the lack of talent in the top 9. On a good team, Brown will be valuable.

It seems like Fletcher just made a couple trades to make it look like he was doing something. He managed to worsen the roster when it was already lacking. Just astounding.

We got younger with 2 late round picks ? Has anyone told CF the odds of prospects past the 4th round, and their likelihood of making it in the NHL ? MacEwen just played his way into becoming a 4th liner. Now he's gone. Great development plan. Let's wait until a player actually becomes worthy of a roster spot, and move him for a late round pick. I mean, Brown and MacEwen were not old.

The well documented problem was the top 9. These guys are actually good at cycling, being physical and winning board battles - all Torts kind of stuff.

So CF trades the wrong guys. We need more players like Tippet who can snipe.

He's more than 1 years late. The rebuild needed to happen before going down the road to getting Ellis. And when that went bust, have been trying to make up for it ever since. Signing Risto, and DeAngelo (who I like, but not for this situation). It amounts to chasing it, and not waiting for deals or alternatives to players who no one else is bidding on (see Risto re-signing).
