Come on, man, it was bargain basement prices this year even discounting Kane. Who was inflated?
- Wetbandit1

You can debate or stew about if the prices were inflated or rock bottom, if you want. I’m only referencing their apparent thought process. They are not deviating from the “development year” that’s been mentioned so often around here.

Adams kinda made it sound as though the 2022 1sts were non-starters, same with Quinn and Peterka. Name dropped Kulich and Savoie directly. Basically what has been said here for months.

Also saying they wanted to do things the right way, not wanting to speed things up and jump steps. They want 'sustainable success'.

A lot of speaking without saying all too much. Basically, they weren't trying to buy in order to make the playoffs, this year is not the goal.

I would have been happy if he would have upgraded in net

I give him a C on the deadline...could change into a B if Greenway finds his game

The Greenway deal is a nice balance. Gives something to the people who were desperate for them to do something (me) while still retaining his prime assets. The player is a good fit.

I would have loved ekholm or chicken man but that was always a pipe dream.

They do need to figure out a defenseman this summer though

It's a fine sentiment when you're going through a rebuild. If this was 2016 a lot more of us would be fine with it. Probably is the better way to do things right now. The fact that we're getting through our 3rd(?) rebuild in 12 years is what makes it hurt.

Make the playoffs next year and tell us 'I told you so', Kevyn. Please prove us wrong.

C-

Was an F prior to greenway.

Still didn’t address two of the most glaring weaknesses on this team and there were players moved that would have done so.

But whatever.

When does Greenway play.
I assume not tomorrow.

I wonder if they view Greenway as simply a better version of 28 for the bottom 6 for the next few years or if they truly think there’s untapped potential for more.

Preferably they just bank on the former.

Also, not for nothing, but are they that scared to acquire anyone who isn’t a former USA player under Granato or a player who hasn’t played in a similar system?

Sure, but things change and you have to be able to adjust. Finishing top 10 in goals for(they're 3rd now) and missing the playoffs is flat out unforgivable. Not one person here has advocated for betting the farm. Just make a good goddamn addition to help the team. Jordan Greenway and Stillman ain't it

If Johnson plays and is good enough for a top 6 role then finding one additional guy would be nice.

Johnson-46

If Johnson isn't ready then you need two or at least have a guy like Joki in the 6th spot which should help more. There are free agents available that could take that 3-4 spot and I hope they go for one of them.

I don’t need a fighter.

I need a guy who forechecks and back checks like an ass.

I need a guy that will get in other peoples faces.

Greenway does that it seems.

he didn't get rentals which is a good thing

if greenway is a middle 6 fixture he filled one hole in the lineup for the next 2 years

Yeah with him it seemed more like talking about how they threw him in last year since they thought he was ready for NHL experience and needed to be up here to figure that out. Quinn and Peterka were in that same breath, but then he pivoted to the prospects and seemed like he was talking about their questioned availability.

I am happy he didn't give up any of them, that was the big exciting thing from last draft. You're going to have 5 1st round picks in the cupboards after this season, and additional guys from the 2nd. Some of these guys have to actually pan out, right? Kulich has to see some games next year, even if it's just an injury thing. Maybe Savoie gets a 9 game tryout? Hopefully it works.
