Sabres shed a C prospect and 2 useless forwards and a guy you weren't signing for a big D, big O and a lottery ticket and a 3rd.
We've complained about not being hard to play against. Hopefully this moves the needle. |

He does though. Whether we enjoy it or not they are keeping the door open for him because he can choose to leave if he doesn't like it. He's central to the Reinhart deal, they will do the dance to keep him. Once he is signed he loses his negotiating power and the Sabres will be free to bring someone in.
Will they at that point, who knows. Could easily see them running UPL-Comrie again next season. |

Moves it a little, didn't make the Gerbe 110% happy trade he said but at least something was done to piece together a team.
Still don't like that he didn't move a player for something of substance though

He wasn't in the plans for the team, they moved him to get something for him and get him out of Rochester. It's a nothing deal, gets you a 2 dollar scratch off. |

Portillo for a 3rd is fine. He wasn't staying here, you got something for him, that's asset management. No problem.
Asplund is just whatever.
Greenway for a second is high but it is the worst 2nd they have and they had 3. Could have probably gotten more with that but I see the reasoning of doing it. Whatevs, I am not going to complain about it.
It's more than I expected them to do today. Anyone who thought they were making a splash convinced themselves. Granato basically said today that it is not the time to do that. |
