They traded Bo Horvat and a 2nd round pick for Hronek, Raty, Beauvillier and a 4th round pick. At the end of the day, providing the haters take their shades off, they got a top four 25 year old right shot dman, a winger who’s producing with EP40 (although I’m sure Lordy could pop a few in that spot) and a good young center prospect.
The trades, in and of themselves in their totality, are not that bad when you consider roster needs and money they would’ve had to spend to keep Horvat. - LeftCoaster
They traded a 35 goal(with near 1/4 season left) scoring C in his prime, *retained salary, and a high 2nd round pick for a 15 goal scoring winger(with near 1/4 season left), an injured 2nd pairing RD and a B prospect in his 20's who is struggling in the AHL, and a 4rth.
Islanders know what they got... Bo is as proven as it gets. Canucks on the otherhand get all kinds of question marks and risks. Does Beauvillier fall off after a trade bump? He has struggled up to his trade. What is the deal with Hronek's injury? Why was Stevie Y so interested in trading him at 25y/o when everyone else thinks this player is trending upwards and is not on an expiring contract? Raty... well there are plenty of red flags there... and he hasnt done poop in Abby so far. He is far from NHL ready and not exactly showing a upward trend.

Horvats a great player, but expensive and they weren’t successful with him. Was that his fault, no, but you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Trading him brought a bit more depth and supposedly a more balanced roster.

They traded a 2nd round pick and an expiring UFA that they were not going to resign who was a selfish cancer in the room for 3 former top picks including, a top 10 25yo RHD putting up gaudy numbers, an 21yo A+center prospect with 3C as his floor, a 25yo point per game winger under contract for another year at 4m, a 19yo B+winger prospect and a second round pick.
Can't do much better then that!
They got better, younger, deeper, younger and better. All they gave up was someone who would walk at the end of the season and a bust of a steady pick.

You must have quoted the wrong person. I said nothing that had anything to do with your... what ever this is. In fact I haven't seen anyone argue against the fact that Bo had to be traded since it went down. I was the first one back when Miller was signed saying Bo is their only big trade option now. Many lectured me that it wasn't so at the time... and they could still resign him etc etc etc...
if you actually read the post you quoted, you can see that I'm debating the return, not whether he should have been traded.

Raty an A+ center prospect? WTF? 3l C is his floor? His floor is the AHL... and he isn't nowhere near a NHL player yet.
Who's this 25y/o point per game winger you are talking about? He has 31 points in 61 one games.
This 19y/o winger prospect you speak of wasn't part of the Bo trade.
Bo is probably going to score 40 goals this season. He is a beast on the PP, takes the most faceoffs in the league, near or at the top in f/o numbers always... a true playoff performer.... still trending upwards in his career.
People keep exaggerating how great the return is... or in your case just making crap up.
