I'm usually pretty optimistic, but with our D corps and C depth, i can't see the playoffs next year.
Happy to stand corrected if more moves are made and we get a top 3 pick in the draft

- dbot

Yeah as is it’s hard to see playoffs next season. But then again there are team play factors. They can put it together. A top 3 pick alone won’t be enough. It will take some D upgrades or player development to get there though.

After the draft lottery I wouldn't be surprised if these clowns trade the 1st.

They hit faster. Usually, you'd get the internal gigglies before the drink is empty. Strawberry Electric Daiquiris were the go to.

My favorite move so far has been putting OEL on LTIR and seeing what the team looks like without him. No difference IMO.

Kravs is number two move so far.

Brisbois and wolanin look okay, Abby is doing good things it appears, helped podz and hogs also.

I think the majority of the fan base wanted everything fixed by today lol

Honestly, I see them creating one hole to fill another so far. A 35 goal scoring center out and a 15 goal scoring winger and a injured 2nd pairing RD in. Less high picks after TDL then we had going in. Although they did add some B and C level prospects to the pool in place of the A level prospects they would have had access to.

American Thanks Giving so they know how far out of the playoffs they will be.

Tommorow, see if the young fellas can take it to the leafs, I like watching the progression with a positive perspective.

I mean we keep hearing from many in here how bad they are at drafting so it made sense to trade away that potential lotto pick so I guess they would applaud trading it away as well.
- boonerbuck

As much as I didn't like what they paid for Hronek, he seems like the real deal and fits in perfect with the current core. You still however need to keep feeding the pipeline which it appears they aren't too concerned about. That's concerning, why have scouts?

I mostly agree with you on all of this. My only thinking is Rutherford is terrible at drafting and his partner Allvin has been less than impressive at it also. They need to fix that.

One thing I liked that was mentioned today was when the GM addressed this weaponizing cap issue and he replied the offers were not worth the return and we have contract spots still open to make additions.
- VANTEL

Also if it would have stopped them from making a deal of their own. Say retaining on Boeser.

I highly doubt they are going to completely overhaul their 1st PP unit strategy from having a playmaking QB on the blue line distribute the puck and cycle it for shots from the circles and bumper spot to long bombing it from the blue line just because they picked up a 2nd D pairing guy who has a decent shot. They will probably employ that strategy on the 2nd unit since there is a lack of shooting forwards/playmakers on it.
- boonerbuck

Good points of course. I just figure Hughes is basically a winger playing D anyways, and Hronek's pace this year of all other suggests 1st pairing minutes. With the Right hand bomb on D on PP1 it gives Hughes the flexibility to move around and score more. Which he should be doing anyways. But having said that I'm sure Tocchet will experiment with all aspects of PP1 and PP2.

PA said today he has liked what BB has done since Tochett came in. Don't know if he is pumping tires or means it. His comments were he has a lot to offer and has a lot more to go to reach full potential.

Who knows what he is really thinking.

Over the past 25 games, only Myers and Boeser are in double digit minus.

Team still needs defensive wingers for Miller even though he has been better. Still need better defenders.

There is much sorting to do and at this point, I just pray that there are a few prospects that take some mega jumps over the summer because they aren't going to get much help out of picking once in the first two rounds.

Tocchet is a winner. Unlike Green or even Boudreau for that matter he can bring that element to the room. Boeser has had his ups and downs with injuries and such but he seems to maintain a consistent pace when he is healthy.

I would love to see Myers Boeser and OEL off the team next year. Hope PA feels the same.

Not going to get on board yet. I have seen too many times at the end of the year when games don't matter and players playing for contracts that the team improves. Not saying they haven't or won't, but I will see next year and how they start.

I hear you. Many times this team gets out of the PO race and certain players excel whether contact-based or otherwise. Hard to gauge at times lol
