With the moves they've made, the stating of buyouts, and the way they're pushing for the playoffs... I don't see them waiting long for an OEL buyout. If Wolanin/Breis can do what OEL does for 1 mil over those first four seasons, and they buy out OEL.. that's basically the same as paying one of those guys 5.7 at the peak of the buyout (years 3 and 4). Basically saving 1.5 mil.

(Note: I don't think it's smart, it's not what I would do, I can just see them doing it)

The middle four years of an OEL buyout are so close in cap hit if you buy him out now or in two more years. Crazy to wait that long especially if they want to compete for playoffs and more. I don't think they care about a 2 mil cap hit in year 7 and 8. The cap could be up 12 mil by then and Allvin could be gone.

I agree with your thinking . They do it now while they have Petey and Hughes getting close to prime. Allvin did not even mention once today about OEL being core.

Benning 2.0 and Benning 2.1 at that point.

Just simmed the lotto and got number 2. But I think anything in the top 7 and there's a good chance at a C, you gotta take that.

Pretty much.

Why not, listen to the fans/media and the sky is falling, but I'll agree with Allvin. He made a couple of good moves and a few minor ones, glad he got Hronek, Bloom interests me, and Kravtsov and Beauvillier will be great additions. Raty a good prospect.

Just want to give some balance here to the negative depressing outlook by most of you...

- Makita

Thanks but it's not working.
Ten more years of retooling should keep the conversation engaging though.

Well it sure looks like for a 3rd straight season they will go in thinking they will win with this team. With the changes so far, the results have been not all that different.

Yeah I think they will go for the C and if not there trade the pick for a young D.

They could also be waiting to see if there are any small soft Swedish wingers still available.

I know many won't like hearing this but Dries is signed next year and has 11 goals in a little over fifty games. I don't remember the last 3C to score 10 goals. I think they will look to upgrade but I don't think they are in panic mode to overspend on that spot.

Same as Briesbois and/or Wally to play LHD next year.

One thing I liked that was mentioned today was when the GM addressed this weaponizing cap issue and he replied the offers were not worth the return and we have contract spots still open to make additions.

People get split on what they want to see the team do. Rebuild isn’t in the cards if you got a young core. It’s why the tinkering to get the right parts is occurring.

People lose their minds over this 😆 it’s really not that bad what they’ve done. They focus on the picks going out, I don’t like it but to get a good RHD you have to pay a hefty price, it’s something we really need badly, I didn’t like it at first but I’m over it time to move on.

I'm usually pretty optimistic, but with our D corps and C depth, i can't see the playoffs next year.
Happy to stand corrected if more moves are made and we get a top 3 pick in the draft

Like QH said they the players think they can do it with some changes and playing a better system. This is why management is trying to fit pieces that work better.

I have, for over 5 decades. Hopefully you can understand my "faith" has dwindled and turned me the bitter and resentful ray of sunshine that I am today.

That’s why it’s wise to wait and see the final outcome of what the roster will be come sept.

My favorite move so far has been putting OEL on LTIR and seeing what the team looks like without him. No difference IMO.

Kravs is number two move so far.

After the draft lottery I wouldn't be surprised if these clowns trade the 1st.

I mean we keep hearing from many in here how bad they are at drafting so it made sense to trade away that potential lotto pick so I guess they would applaud trading it away as well.
