If you think their core is the problem you are very ignorant. Crosby is still a top 5 center. Malkin is still a top 20 center. Letang has declined but can still play top line minutes. Predictably bad decisions from Rutherford and Hextall put a weak supporting cast together. Sound familiar? Yes, PIT has been supremely fortunate over the years. Keeping Hextall is much worse than rebuilding.

They’re not the problem but thinking that they’re the players they were 5 years ago that can carry the team past the 1st round is equally ignorant. They’re done - they’ve been done since the covid year exit.
