What a torturous afternoon... TDL and I was at an animal ER with one of my cats for over two hours with my phone dead. Wanted to be checking here on what you idiots were saying to kill the time and seeing what's up around the league.

So.... older, slower....maybe a little better. Don't think Hex saved his job.

Washing 2 more years of McGinn and the Blues taking Kaps contract off our hands were Hex's best moves.

Which were completely nullified by Granlund haha.

Yeah I thinks Hex is done here. I’d be absolutely shocked if he’s not fired immediately after the season is over.

So that means Jarry finally stays healthy, stands on his head, and they finally make it past the first round , saving Hextall for another year.

Now the next GM is going to need to find someone on Hextard’s level to take Granlund off our hands before FA or spend assets to do so…if Carter retires / goes on LTIR there is some glimmer of hope they could improve next year, but hard to imagine they’re anywhere close to being considered a contender.

Do it now, I don’t want the pens to pull off an upset in the first round and they are blinded enough to keep him around.

Is Kulikov really going to play over POJ? I thought he had one of his best games of the season last night.

In a vacuum I take 1 Granlund over 2 McGinn/Kapanen

But there was a real possibility for Ron to clear dead contracts (Blueger, McGinn, Kapanen) and then say "F-it" and roll with whats left and add Zucker and Dumo's capspace to the summer

I stand behind something I've said for a while. Deep down capspace in the summer isn't that much value to the Pens. Top free agents don't see this as a destination. That's how we end up overpaying the Tanev's and giving too much term to the McGinns. I've never been able to quantify it, but poor use of summer capspace might come down to having to pick apples from the bottom of the barrel, for whatever reason

Just because a useful players signed for 4 years 20 million in (insert city) doesn't mean that "We could have had him here too"
