Seems like hex spent a lot of energy to make this team older and slower. The + was moving kap.

Usually yes, but they may also want to preserve that exempt status into next season seeing how highly Sully values young players lol
- Pags

DOC will lose his exempt status next season regardless.

They had 13 forwards when healthy that didn't include DOC. Moved out 3, added 2, so they have to add someone from minors and he's the obvious choice (Caggiula also was sent down). But yes a week from now or so he will lose his waiver exemption if he's playing, but nothing to save it for now

Unfortunately I don't know that they will. Pretty sure I read last week that he is only a couple games away from losing waiver exempt status and I have a bad feeling they will try to preserve that despite his play.
- Pags

Nah. DOC will be back. It was a paper move for the deadline.

Kapanen-> Granlund
Blueger-> Bonino
McGinn-> DOC
Add Kulikov who may not even play but with retained I think they can carry 23 players

Pretty much the definition of shuffling the deck chairs with almost no change.

It's too complex for me to understand, I just use the calculator on capfriendly. . DOC loses eligibility after playing two more games or next year, whichever happens first.

2 bad contracts for one worse contract…gotta love the use of cap space by this management team.

Seeing what other teams gave up for better hockey players, it's just asinine that this guy still has a job.

What I keep getting stuck on is how in the world was Bertuzzi not our top target given what he went for? Can’t do anything about Jim Rutherford wanting to make a hockey trade instead of selling off Miller but really how in the world did we just ignore Bertuzzi?

It's not that bad. Bonino, even at his age, is an upgrade on Blueger this season. Kulikov got us out from under the McGinn contract. And, Granlund is criminally underrated offensively. The guy was the best player maker on the market outside of Domi. The Pens did improve.

Why’d he let Yzerman troll him like that?
- Feds91Stammer

Fletcher trolled himself. Moving JvR was a layup, and he still (frank)ed it up.

I refuse to believe he had no offers until 1:40 or whatever he said. Rentals with decent offensive output always get moved

I wondered this myself. To be honest you flip Granlund for Bertuzzi and it would have been great! I would feel a lot better about this team now and in the future. Idk why Hex contradicts himself all the time. He wants to build towards the future, but he always brings in veterans who are 30+. Idk I feel like Granlund at the very least should have had money retained for a 2nd it would have made the deal a little easier to swallow. I actually like Kulikov and feel like he brings some good hitting and net clearing ability. Could be a great pairing with any of our 3 RHD.

Too much smoke here for me to put too much stock in GM speak post deadline. We were in and they said no. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Pretty sure Van fans want his and Rutherfords heads. They also want a full on rebuild and must would like to rid of Miller, his 8 year bloated contract after this sh!tty season and the getting rid of a fan favourite Horvat....so...i could see him saying poop like that to save face hahah

It was for the ahl playoffs. They had to be on the ahl roster to be eligible.

I was definitely thinking this. He has to say it otherwise there would be a riot that they sent Horvat out and not JT Miller.

He is actually pretty dead on about the Penguins' trade deadline, but this is more the exception than the rule.

But yes, usually he's a miserable person that considers himself to be smarter than everyone else. He's one of the few bloggers I see that doesnt ever comment in the comment section with us peasants.

Probably.

Saw you were trying to give your cat oral meds.... Ha ha... Just went through that. Total nightmare. She ended up wearing half of it by the time we were done. Took two of us....it was comical.

Yup. I hold and my wife syringes. The other cat is much more docile too. This one is an absolute nightmare to give meds to.
