Cry baby RW just female doging like normal. Bonino is a great add. This team doesn’t need to load up on expensive players that aren’t going to improve us much. |

Plus there are multiple sources that we tried and lost out on Chychrun and JT Miller which are bigger named talent. |

Not sure which is worse: Hextall living in 2017, or thinking the Pens should trade the farm for a 3rd line forward that will count $8 million against the cap next season, for a team that unless they were also living in 2017, won't go past the 2nd round even if they luck out. |

I'm confused because in the last blog, or one before last, RW was saying a big no thanks to a "panic move" for JT.
I would of loved me some JT. |

Makes sense the Canucks wouldn’t want whatever garbage was offered for JT - Pens have absolutely nothing of substance. |

Lost in all this is the Pens still getting quality wins. |

Mate, you vastly overestimate how much JT Miller is valued given that disaster of a contract he just signed. |

The Penguins are at the point in the lifecycle where risky moves is the only way to compete. You arent going to match up against cores much younger than yours and expect to compete. Im not saying Hextall shouldve been trigger friendly and signed us up for a lot of high risk deals, but there were plenty of chances to be high reward with low to moderate risk.
Hextall isnt the type of GM the Penguins need. They need someone willing to put themselves out there to take a risk. Hextall is content on sitting back and making one or two moves a year. That isnt going to work. |

Idk 2 first round picks and 8 million in cap space next season is a lot to gain. Plus it gives Vancouver the ability to tank and get a better draft pick in a good draft. They could have had potentially 3 1sts in the first round this season if they didn't trade one away already. |

When "quality" wins start happening against the Metro teams, I'll listen. |

Friedman says Pens and Vancouver remain in talks, didn’t mention names just said if they do a deal it will be really complicated. Says he doesn’t think we are done yet. |

I mean we all agree to this that we need a more aggressive GM, its just nice to hear of some rumors like from old times where we are potentially going to land the top few targets that are available for once. |

I assumed when he Pens hired Hextall it was to slowly tear it down and create cap space and add picks. Not sure why they hired him to keep going for it. |

See I heard they hired him because they were looking for a visionary GM. Who envisioned a successful season not just currently, but in the future. Someone who couldn't put his plans into words. Someone who had no recent success as a GM that could take them helm. |

Would be interesting to see what a deal might look like. Pens have zero cap space and most of their guys on significant contracts have NTC's. The only player from the Pens that really fits the bill for Vancouver is Pettersson and I just don't think that is a deal that benefits the Pens involving him unless we are getting a replacement LD from somewhere else.

1. Bonino is not a "great" add. He's a meh add.
2. So instead of loading up on expensive players that improve the team even marginally, you're okay with loading up with expensive players that make the team worse? |

This might be why it is so complicated of a deal since we would want another LD and they would want another center. They will probably end up swapping 2 minor league players and call it a day lol. |

JT Miller is a PPG player, that's not a third line center. He could also be the replacement to Zucker that is signed throughout the core's tenure if he walks in FA, and Miller plays with that edge that the Pens generally lack when playoffs roll around, this is a bad take. |

I agree with 1...but regarding 2...if there's a 3rd team involved ...is it possible Bonino is having 75% of his cap hit retained? haha..if so, he's not expensive at all.
