Or at least communicating with the coaches and being on the same page. “Sullivan, here’s a list of 20 players that could be available. Who do you guys think would fit best with the team? Which roster players would you be ok with moving?”
In that case if you flounder, you can throw the coach under the bus saying you did what the coaches wanted and it didn’t work. - drummer829

Bjugstad, looked upon unfavorably during his time here, would have been a better acquisition than Granlund. Expiring contract @ 900k, only cost a 3rd...and the Coyotes STILL retained 50% LOL.
Is it worth typing this out for every future trade made? - YouMeAndDupuis9
I liked Bjugstad but he was just never healthy to get a rhythm going. I wouldn't act like we missed out on anything here.
Pastranak is great but boy, to be Marchand and Bergeron who took significant discounts on their contracts just to have Pasta totally cash in has to burn a bit. I wonder what his production would look like if he was playing away from Bergeron and Marchand? Is he an $11M player if he is playing with average linemates? I don't think so.

That's why I wondered how Geno would feel if they brought in someone like Meier or Miller and paid him more then Geno got. |

Except those guys were only 60 point players when they signed those deals.
Also Pasta doesn’t play on their line. |

I think Pasta is an elite talent that drives play and makes players around him better. |

He's one of the best wingers in the league, Kuchy, Ovi and Kane are others that come to mind as wingers who can lead a line without a great center. Jagr is still my all time best winger. |

And I think he's got like 50 points at even strength to boot.

Not missing out on anything great, but Bjugstad for a third-round pick while AZ retains 50% of his cap hit means he was a decent 3C they could have had for a $450k cap hit. That's not even league min. That would leave enough cap space to make another impactful acquisition, and they keep their 2nd. Sounds a lot better than taking on Granlund for the next two seasons as well and seriously negating the chance of making any other real additions this season without moving players they might want to keep. |

Did the Dads go home? Be interesting to see how a bunch of hockey players act getting their tits scrubbed with their dads upstairs. For whatever reason the Pens have had Tampas number of late. Have to think Tampa hasn’t forgotten last Sat though. Yohe said the Locke room isn’t happy about McGinn being sent down and Blueger traded during the Dads trip. “Us against them” is how he put it. |

It was brought up before. Who decided to have the Dad's trip during the TDL? |

Sounds like they're there though the FLA games. Waiting for the next hostage to be shot. Apparently the players choose when those trips happen. I'm guessing next year won't be scheduled around the TDL. |

Not true. Plenty of third lines have good numbers. Hard to find fourth lines that don't, but it is possible for example ZAR-Blueger-Tanev - Tojo.
I didn't think that one thru. Just by the nature of the stat just as many second lines are going to have bad numbers as third lines have good.
I should have stated that as team stat not a league wide stat. Reaally, that's the way it should be. The top two lines are your leaders, they should have the better numbers. The bottom two lines need to keep from getting outscored.
This year's team isn't doing that by any stretch of the imagination. Zucker and Rust are +1 5v5. The bottom six are getting their areses kicked. Poehling and Archibald being the exception. |

Honestly I just want a young dude who understands cap space as our next GM. I feel like a lot of the issue as to why all these GMs suck is because they’re all old boys who cut their teeth in the no cap era. Get me a dude in his late 30s/early 40s who hasn’t known anything besides a cap’ed NHL. - Victoro311
Hexy understands the cap. He fixed it in Philly. |
