Can we claim him to take over as our #1 D so we can trade Letang? - TheGame316
Nope. Hex has a trade for Goligoski worked out for that spot

The third and fourth lines are always going to have bad numbers. They take almost all of the defensive zone faceoffs. Even when they start on the fly, I've seen the top two lines run off the ice when they lose the puck in the offensive zone. The bottom six would never get away this.
I can't decide on the over or betting Jarry makes the over on saves. - Thunderbolt
Not true. Plenty of third lines have good numbers. Hard to find fourth lines that don't, but it is possible for example ZAR-Blueger-Tanev |

Sully and his terrible usage habits definitely are a contributing factor but those dudes are helping themselves much either. |

Jason Zucker on reuniting with his former teammate Mikael Granlund: "He's an unbelievable player. We had a lot of great years together in Minnesota - we were drafted in the same year... It was fun to talk to him yesterday. He's pretty excited to be here. He can play all positions. He can play penalty kill, power play - he's a guy you'd love to have out there at the end of a game protecting a lead... I think he'll be great for us." |

That's right. Plus (and I haven’t looked recently), as of mid January the Flames’ 3rd line of Backlund, Mangiapane, and Coleman had the best expected goals percentage metric. They lead all lines this season at 76%, that was better than Bratt, Haula, and Hughes of the Devils, who were 2nd at 69.4%, and the Bruins’ top line of Marchand, Bergeron, and Pastrnak, who were at third at 69.1%.

Honestly I just want a young dude who understands cap space as our next GM. I feel like a lot of the issue as to why all these GMs suck is because they’re all old boys who cut their teeth in the no cap era. Get me a dude in his late 30s/early 40s who hasn’t known anything besides a cap’ed NHL. |

Maybe when the team sucks next year and they decide to trade Crosby, malkin, and letang to jump start the rebuild, Crosby will retire and be the GM for the 2025-26 season |

He’s been on an AHL only deal this season so technically he’s been out of the league. |

That or at least have an assistant GM that knows what the hell's going on when they had to get that dude for Rutherford who ended up going to Buffalo. He wasn't a good GM but he was a great assistant GM. |

You obviously don't remember when Patrick sent Jagr to the Caps for Beech, Sivek and Lupaschuk.

Or at least communicating with the coaches and being on the same page. “Sullivan, here’s a list of 20 players that could be available. Who do you guys think would fit best with the team? Which roster players would you be ok with moving?”
In that case if you flounder, you can throw the coach under the bus saying you did what the coaches wanted and it didn’t work. |

Hextall reminds me of our GM in our Calgary office. Old dude with a ton of experience but can't embrace new methods or strategies. Constantly hiring older dudes that are washed up and protecting them cuz they're a good ol boy from podunk alberta. When you asked about his seasoned vet sales guy who hasn't done poop in 5 years....its always well he's not getting the support he needs, market conditions bla bla bla. when the younger unseasoned guy is one of our top global sales reps. But that GM is part of a larger group of industry vets and is untouchable....They all talk about how great things use to be. Meanwhile its hard to find good young talent that want to stick around LOL.....Must be a Canadian mentality. |

Bjugstad, looked upon unfavorably during his time here, would have been a better acquisition than Granlund. Expiring contract @ 900k, only cost a 3rd...and the Coyotes STILL retained 50% LOL.
Is it worth typing this out for every future trade made? |
