I think it is a failure as the whole reason for stacking and spending quality assets was to go all the way. - MattStrat
Yea it's still failure but not like one team stacked up and lost to another team that did basically nothing at the deadline. The East is ridiculous this year. |

I really dont follow the league much anymore outside of the Pens and even that is a stretch for me with life and kids. This is usually a slow time for me with work so I am always interested to see trades around the league and what hte Pens do.
So I noticed Voracek was dealt to the Yotes and his cap his is $8m?!?!?!?! Dude never put up more than 23 G and was only once more than a pt/gm player. So I ask who hte (frank) gave that dude $8+a year???? None other than Ron (frank)ing Hextall! |

Off topic I heard that gmjr didn’t want to trade Matt Murray to Calgary for Dougie Hamilton let fleury go instead. Not saying it was right or wrong but imagine Hamilton on that d and fleury still with Jarry backing up
I’m sure we probably would have had one more cup
NO WAY. We've already been through this. The Pens would be stuck on only ONE Cup if Fleury had remained. Yes Murray fell off after that 2nd Cup Run. You can all speculate as to why. But in 2016, Pens would have lost to Tampa with Fleury in goal. In 2017, the Pens would not have beaten Ottawa with Fleury in goal. They made the right decision at the time keeping Murray and moving Fleury. That is more than I can say for GM Hextall, who must be a Flyers Spy with the damage he is doing to the Penguins organization.
Needs:
1) GM with a working Brain
2) Backup Goalie who can log starters minutes when Jarry inevitably gets hurt again. He is the Goalie equivalent of Beau Bennett
3) Jeff Carter to get a mysterious "illness" like Hossa did with the Hawks. Then he could go on LTIR and Pens can get relief with CAP and with an actual player who is not a corpse. |

Can anybody explain to me why they wouldn't call up Nylander or Puustinen? Is it PK/special teams related? I realize McGinn and Teddy were two big PK pieces, but when are you going to give one of these young guys a serious look?
Why are we always going with retreads? It's nauseating. |

At this point would anyone blame Sid, Geno or Tanger for demanding trades? - PittsPens
They don't want trades. They aren't thinking like this. They might even be a bit excited to get a guy with good wheels in the bottom 6 who has more points than Bluey, McGinn and Archi combined hahaha |

I'd imagine salary cap and waivers played a role. I think DOC kept getting moved up and down because he was one that didnt have to go through waivers. |

If I were one of them at this point in their career, id say you know F it....We make hte playoffs lose in round 1. I got paid, and my season ended early. I can relax with the fam and golf a bit. Take a month to (frank) around. |

I will bet that Teddy B is glad to get out of Penguinland It is going to turn into a waste land with Hexxy at the helm. He is the Manchurian candidate sent to the Pens by Bobby Clarke to destroy Pittsburgh. He could not kill Robbie Brown so the next best thing was to kill the entire Pittsburgh hockey team. Like a spy in the government and like Biden not liking China. THE BIG LIE |

If they they lose in round 1, very great chance of that if they even make it, I'm sure they can reflect on things such as their cup rings and all the money they've made...or even better more time with their families and friends....but I think they're super proud guys that want to win, realize their playoff windows are closing and will not like being knocked out at all haha...or not making it in at all. |

I didn't realize Nylander was eligible for waivers although Puustinen isn't. They all make similar money. Puust makes a little more.
Just sick of the "veteran default mode" this team employs. Call up Puustinen (a Fin), put him on a line with Granlund (a Fin) and maybe you make something out of this mess. Found money.
IDK... Just sick of the lack of imagination from this team. |

Why? - MattStrat
Who's going to play defense? Crosby that's it; Malkin, I don't think so; Carter, hasn't worked well; O'Connor, maybe but I'm not holding my breathe.
We may need 7 to win this game. |

So Kap, McGinn and Teddy were playing good D?
Of the 27 skaters to dress for the Pens this season all three of them are in the bottom 5 to 10 in defensive metrics. Simply put, the Pens get very outshot and out chanced when those three have been on the ice. Its not on all of them of course, Carter is also in that bottom 5 to 10 in metrics...also the mess of injuries to the Pens D a factor on top of a player like Letang not being himself.
EDIT: I will agree however, they may indeed need 7 to win hahaha |

Geno and Letang took less with the idea the savings would help build a contender. I don't know how they aren't pissed and in their agents ear.
With Mario taking a step back, not really sure they have anyone they trust in the organization to go to. - buckster2342
Like what was said at the beginning of the season, their savings went right to Rakell. So it was gone quick. |

Don't know what bringing anyone else up will do if they'll still be behind guys like Carter or Heinen will be ahead of them on the depth chart like they are with DOC. |

Can we claim him to take over as our #1 D so we can trade Letang? |

The third and fourth lines are always going to have bad numbers. They take almost all of the defensive zone faceoffs. Even when they start on the fly, I've seen the top two lines run off the ice when they lose the puck in the offensive zone. The bottom six would never get away this.
I can't decide on the over or betting Jarry makes the over on saves. |

You obviously don't remember when Patrick sent Jagr to the Caps for Beech, Sivek and Lupaschuk.
Best GM they ever had was public enemy No. 1 that day.
