Anyone feel like some of these teams are almost overdoing it with these acquisitions? Kinda like the 2013 Penguins? - SuperHenderson13
That was a coaching issue. Mario should have fired Bylsma mid series and went on the bench himself lol. We should have won the cup. |

I do, yeah. I said this about the Rangers the other day. - MattStrat
It's not overdoing if the players fit. Back in the day the Rangers would grab every star player and it never worked. |

There was an AVS squad that had like Selanne, Kariya, Sakic, Forsberg, Tanguay, Foote, Blake....They lost in hte 2nd round i think. |

So with JT Miller out potentially long term, maybe we can stash him until we potentially made the playoffs? Then take him off LTIR |

One question someone in the media needs to ask Burke or Hextall is how have they followed through on their belief when they first got the job that they needed to make this team harder to play against in the playoffs? Both over the last few years and with this trade deadline. A guy like Granlund is not hard to play against in the playoffs. |

I think Selanne and kariya were both injured. I'm sure Feds hated that team lol |

I'd do it but we have to make the playoffs first lol. Thing is it would be for the future too because we ain't winning poop this year. |

I feel the same way. Bylsma was incompetent. When he was finally fired, Burkle essentially said as much. Lamented not doing it sooner. |

He should have been fired after 2012. He was a terrible coach. The team won in spite of him, not because of him. Sid looked sick of him but the end of his time. |

For the Rangers it is a bit different because Kane and Panarin were once the best LW/RW combo in the league with Chicago, that should be a smooth fit.
For Boston, Orlov will fit in easy and Bertuzzi is a hustle guy, so as long as he stays healthy I think he can fit in anywhere in their lineup.
Toronto might be playing with fire. OReilly will probably fit perfectly but not sure how everything else comes together for them.
I'd rather risk failing because I have too much talent than go into the playoffs not having enough (Hi Ron!).

Right! That 2012 Pens/Flyers series was a stain on the franchise.

Right, so if a stacked team looses to a stacked team is it truly a failure? At that point it just is what it is. |

Was that the crazy high scoring series? If it was, even though we lost it was damn entertaining lol |

Poehling (upper) is the only player absent from Penguins morning skate. Granlund is skating on the third line. Workflow:
Guentzel-Crosby-Rakell
Zucker-Malkin-Rust
Heinen-Carter-Granlund
Caggiula-O'Connor-Archibald
Dumoulin-Letang
Pettersson-Petry
Joseph-Rutta-Ruhwedel rotating
Mike Sullivan, on how they'll deploy Mikael Granlund: "Our intent is to get him involved in the penalty kill right away, and we will get him involved in one of the power plays as well. We're just trying to do it in a way where we don't overload him." |

I think it is a failure as the whole reason for stacking and spending quality assets was to go all the way.

Pens lost their sh!t/focus. I was embarrassed for them. A good coach reigns them in. From what I've read, Bylsma was the exact opposite. He stirred the pot.
I mean yeah...there was some entertainment. But I think the coach was one of the primary reasons they didn't win. There's a reason Sullivan got them over the top. He put an end to the BS. |

Geno and Letang took less with the idea the savings would help build a contender. I don't know how they aren't pissed and in their agents ear.
With Mario taking a step back, not really sure they have anyone they trust in the organization to go to. |

I was just thinking about that yesterday haha. I wouldn't, especially if Hextall, for some ridiculous reason, isn't shot into the sun. |
