You know it's bad when all the local Pittsburgh writers all have headlines with some form of "Hextall's gotta go" in it.

Yohe, Madden, Rossi, Molinari, Kingerski... how often do you see all of these stooges in unison?

- j.boyd919

I mean to be fair all of us here and all fans can now be united and agree. Hextall is a moron lol.

Nah, you're definitely wrong. RW said GMJR did great things in his first few years (uh.. b2b cups?), and fell off the wagon by gunslinging trades with no direction.

Hextall has had no direction since he came in.

- j.boyd919

Correct.

No, but probably will be

26 points in 61 games Phil Kessel? Maybe they gel and do something...maybe they form one of the softest lines in the league.
- MattStrat

Archibald 8 pts. McGinn 16 pts. ZAR benched for Sam effing Lafferty. Yep, definitely an upgrade.

Fans and bloggers are one thing, but when you've got people known for carrying your water for you calling for your head, then that's a whole different issue.

Yeah, they all know he's gone. Pittsburgh writers are pretty close to PR guys for the local teams. DK is probably the lone exception.

Oh for sure based on points....just not much of an upgrade anymore haha.

Granny has more points than Archi, McGinn and Blue combined this season haha

I’m been trying to figure out all season long why he traded Marino for someone they decided to keep in the minors Anyone have an answer? How good would Marino look right now.

Hextall and Burke felt our D was getting pushed around too much in front of our net. Enter Rutta and Petry. Bigger players.

As far as Smith goes.... All off season he was trying to trade Petts and/or POJ. Couldn't find any takers and POJ would need pass through waivers. Smith is waiver exempt and our LD has been mostly healthy.

Does Fenway get to use the Pens in tax right offs or something? At this point the lack of a plan makes me think there is some sort of alternative plan. Maybe Hextall’s just some puppet for them. I do wonder….

I get that but pert is a decent player I’ve always liked him. Basically he couldn’t find a taker for a young d who has potential. Someone wasn’t doing there job properly to not be able to trade poj.

He is the same gm that didn’t want to draft makar because he told his scouts he wouldn’t be a good nhler

I've done some reading on this... The Pens sale was mostly a land deal according to some people. Everybody wondered why they paid so much for a team that was clearly heading for some hard times.... Well... the developmental rights of all that land next to the PPG goes with the team.

If Bertuzzi is fitting in well with the team, could try to resign him using the money from Zucker. Dumo will be gone, Kaps salary is gone, Blueger’s is gone. Carter only has a year left (might be easier to move his contract with a year or less on it).

The team was actually in a good spot for next season to retool.

- drummer829

It was. Now we used Kap and Blueger's salaries on Granlund. By the time they take care of 2LW and G that money is likely almost gone. GL improving the bottom six from there. Not even enough for Hextall to get an overpriced player we'll regret.

- MattStrat

Think they expected a bigger rebound from Petry who has been ok, but not the stud he once was. I'd prefer the younger Marino. Matheson ended up being the LHD cap dump we all knew they had to make.

Smith is a victim of cap, crowded roster, and I'd imagine not wanting to play 2 younger players on the same pair. He should be on the team. Was hoping they would at least have the cap space to add a 23rd player, which has blocked them all year from being able to give a prospect a shot.

I'd imagine Smith gets a spot when Dumo goes since he will need waivers next year.

My sense is the ask right now from Chicago on pending UFA Max Domi is a second-round pick that's down the road, similar to the price Colorado paid on Lars Eller

Thats the asking price.... but pRiCeS ArE sO hIGh

this would make a lot more sense than Granlund. but ya know, just about anything would.
