The most telling thing about how bad this is...other teams fans don't even have the heart to come laugh at us.

Ron Hextall the worst GM in Pens history? I thought that was Jim Rutherford.

Well Granlund is better than Kap haha, I know that's not saying much. But like I said earlier, if Carter had his scoring touch still they could have been a pretty decent combination. Kap didn't bring anything, Granlund is a decent playmaker.

He’s better than Kap but by how much? Is he worth 2 mil when his center is Carter? If Carter gets moved somehow and Granlund takes over 3C, then I’d see that as an upgrade.

I figured at the very least we could acquire some picks which may be able to be used to get us out of the Granlund issue this summer. I am still in shock. How do we go from Chychrun and Miller to Granlund...how?
- 123Kid

Don't forget they'll have to retain salary too.

JRs trigger happy finger kept the team interesting at least. I think his trades were fine. His FA signings were abysmal

Rutherford was instrumental in winning two cups. This team might be known as one of the all time great underachievers without him.

This Hextall fool has done nothing buy try to kill hockey in Pennsylvania.

I did not read the blog. The title was enough. How can this blogger talk about failures with a straight face. He commandeered this forum to use the pens as a springboard to try to make his name in advanced stats breakdown. Never gave a turd about the team or its fans themselves. And after years of failing to use this platform as a gig to springboard himself to legitimacy he pens this garbage which is soooo obviously him venting his personal failings. The athletic isn’t calling Ryan. You are the failure. Make room for a real blogger. Its just gotten pathetic at this point.

The thing I havent seen discussed a lot is that this guy is clearly the anti-Mike Sullivan move. I think there is bad blood between Hextall and Sullivan. This guy does nothing that sullivan wants. He cannot forecheck, is very defensively irresponsible, and isnt known for being a great skater. I've seen people on Twitter say he is slow, but i dont think I'd agree with that just based on YouTube highlights, but still. A clear downgrade from what Sully wanted.

He stood out to me a few times last night, almost scoring, and he still had decent wheels.

I do wonder what this team would look like if JR was still here. I feel our top 6 would definitely look different.

Petry, Carter, Granlund.... these would be great pick-ups 7 years ago.

He should try to get Kyle Turris too.

We all know RWs opinions are the gold standard and ours are wrong. There’s a reason why he’s on hockey buzz and not The Athletic or Bleacher Report. You learn to look passed it

If we're all being honest, the team is probably a little better after this. It's just not nearly enough and we're handcuffed for two more years to another guy 30+.

I'm hoping they'll bring up Nylander or Puustinen. Who's this guy going to pass to? Carter?

There were rumors he wanted to move Malkin or letang to rebuild…. Who knows but I think we’d be better off.

This team really sucks the last few yrs. I don’t even watch that often.

This team could've added Miller and Chychrun. It would've been hard, but it was doable. Just like last offseason, Hextall could've added a serious top caliber player. Hextall clearly is afraid to make big moves.

This team with those two players wouldnt make the Penguins a favorite, but I could see it put them in the same conversation as the Rangers at least. Instead, we got older, worse off, and more expensive.

Logging off for the night. Between this team and Chelsea.... it's hard to keep up with all of this insanity.

He will be on that line, which makes them better. I always thought Teddy could be a 3c but it did not work well earlier this year. Don’t understand the hate for this trade. I always thought Granlund was a pretty dangerous player.

Miller? Terrible contract for him. Guy is not tradeable without Van paying part of his way.

I really come here for the postings. Ryan’s material always sucks.
