I’m just dumbfounded how Hextall didn’t make these trades. Could had spent a 1st and 2nd on Bertuzzi and Nino.

It's painful. If prices were unreasonably high, I'd sort of understand. But every playoff team in the east has taken a big step forward except for the Penguins.

How much better this bottom six would look with Niederreiter for our 2nd and Bertuzzi with cap retained...Heck even if it was Granlund and Bertuzzi.


Yet here we are probably only making this one trade for Granlund. Then Hex will talk tomorrow at his press conference about how we look great on paper. How he thinks this team will be competitive. Probably will bring up us winning a few games in a row and looking better as a team. Then finally talking about how prices were too high, but he is happy with the deal he made. Any other Hextall talking points I am missing? I hope they roast him during the conference.

If Bertuzzi is fitting in well with the team, could try to resign him using the money from Zucker. Dumo will be gone, Kaps salary is gone, Blueger’s is gone. Carter only has a year left (might be easier to move his contract with a year or less on it).

The team was actually in a good spot for next season to retool.

Thats what I meant. Sorry it was not clear. It was sarcasm because Hex said he was going after players with term and was not going to spend assets on rentals. Yet We would have had some money to potentially resign him this offseason..
