The Bertuzzi trade makes me sick - Brownsoldier
Feds saying the Pens didnt have the assets to acquire him.....they totally did....and he's only a 2.3 mill cap hit. Nuts.
EDIT: good chance the Pens picks would be better too if thats what they sent them. |

Prices have not been crazy lol the only thing crazy is what Tampa paid for Jeannot - j.boyd919
All the trades have been reasonable! They’re in our price range! I feel like I’m losing my mind! |

Haha yep. only a 1st and a 4th. Pens definitely had the assets for a Bertuzzi trade lol - j.boyd919

Based on other deals I expected more but I guess injuries and the vaccine drama lowered the price and limited to market for him. |

Forget about our cap situation, but we could have the following team right now with only 1st, 2nd, and 4th round picks.
Jake-Crosby-Rakell
Bertuzzi-Malkin-Rust
Zucker-Carter-Nino
DOC-Poehling-Archibald
Absolutely pathetic work by Hextall. |

Also GMs are dumb and historically players have always gone for a notch below the price you think they’re worth.
If there’s anything I’ve learned following the NHL is that a team can always get a trade done. There’s always that magic “thing” that the enemy GM is overvaluing.
EDIT: for example multiple sources have tweeted out that if hex really wanted to Chychrun would be a Penguin right now for just draft picks. We didn’t need to include any on-ice asset and it was just a matter of salary matching. That’s not sound |

Crazy, man. Its one thing to speculate and say that free agents dont want to sign in the Burgh but when it comes to trades with no NTC or NMC's involved the player has no say and it could of been done. The Pens 1st and 4th will most likely better than the Bruins that was offered. |

It's okay we can sign Bertuzzi in the offseason with all that money we saved in the Granlund move..... |

you don't want to spend on Bertuzzi anyway. Hextall already (frank)ed it up so acquiring guys now is pointless. |

Looking at a potential Penguins/Bruins first round matchup has me laughing out loud. We might not lead for a 20 minute period. |

I knew we were heading into the sunset and another cup was a likely pipe dream. I did not expect Hex to ruin this team this quickly. I do not agree with RW on much, but I can agree with him here. Hex has to be the worst GM in the league. A league that has Fletcher..... |

I can't wait for the new GM to come in and immediately trade Pickering and all of Ron's precious draft picks lol |

We were all worried Hex and Burke were going to try to build a roster with "truculence" and over-value the physical brand of hockey... safe to say I'd prefer that over whatever the hell this is.
Chris MacFarland was right there for the taking.
Now watch, the Pens will win their first round of playoffs for the first time in years because hockey doesnt make any sense.

It will definitely be satisfying have a GM who will actually make deals to make the team younger and better. Making trades when we need trades to be made during the season not just at the deadline. |
