Lindros turns 50 today. I've seen him play some alumni games including the HHOF Legends game. Dude still looks like he could play, he's still huge.
- jmatchett383

dude was such a beast, i was at the kasparitis game where he went air born. they just don't hit like that anymore, I am all for taking blind side, head shots, and cheap shots out of the game, but rarely do we see big open ice hits any more even...

Is Pouliot ready to take over the #1 D spot from Letang yet?

Filip Forsberg was going to be a bust. No way we needed to draft the top winger over Pouliot, the guy who wasnt even in many people's top 20 mock drafts.

That 2012 draft class was pretty terrible in general. all three top 3 picks were massive busts.

If JT Miller can be had for (next to) nothing, then is he worth 8 million for the next 4 years (Sid/Geno/Letang window)? Yes he is.... Who cares about the 4 years after when we are in rebuild mode. Ship him off with 50% retained when that day comes

Just about finding enough fringe guys to make the cap work for this year and paying the lowest possible aquisition price

Guy is a PPG player and put up 99 last year

Are you as high on him as everyone on here was on Derrick Pouliot?

The Pouliot wars do not need to be relitigated, J. Get the (frank) out of here with that nonsense.

The plan is to take an excess amount of puck moving defenseman and TRADE them for above value wingers like Real Deal James Neal... duh

It worked good that one time (sorta) so it will definitely work EVERY time

So if McGinn is claimed, they could possibly bring in a ~$5M cap hit without sending any salary out.

I was at that game as well. I remember the crowd going nuts. I was a teen, thought it was insane.

Looking back I feel bad for the guy.

It is going to take some time for him to put it all together but I am very high on him. His combination of skating and puck skills is fantastic for a young kid that size. He is really good at the hard to teach stuff for very tall players.

Parts of his game are very reminiscent of Letangs, especially the puck retrieval to breakout transitions.

He's not contributing for a few years, and I'm not saying he is untradeable, but he also isn't just a prospect add on to a trade.

I'm probably too high on him and a lot of others here are too low on him.

- MacPatty

Nice. You never know for sure but he sounds like he could turn out.

I didnt think anyone would take Kap and was wrong...perhaps I'll be wrong about McGinn too...

Cap savings if he clears waivers is?

Rutherford only does deals that work for both teams, remember? Something tells me he would be a wiener about "helping" the penguins considering the abrupt departure.

@TaylorHaasePGH
Per PuckPedia, the Penguins already had cap space to take on $1.9M in cap hits as it is, with the potential to grow to $2.1M by the March 3 trade deadline with banking cap space.

The moves today could potentially get the Penguins close to the $5.5M in space range.

Well....at least Hex is making it all bit interesting the week leading to TDL...I really thought he might be dormant about a week and half ago...then they won two and I thought he might add one bottom 6ish guy but who knows what's happening now...this is all entertainment for me. Bunch of you guys posting here regularly again too, its great.

I don't think its as much about helping the Penguins as it is finding a taker for Miller. The Pens are a certain sort of desperate with a rapidly closing window and few real prize assets to acquire other elite players

Miller has an attitude problem in the Canucks room and is at odds with Petterson (whio they need to resign soon as well)

1st and a B prospect probably gets it done

Kinda expected someone like McGinn to go with picks prospects to shed cap. Curious what goes down now.

Assuming the shedded McGinn salary, PIT would have to still add Dumo to Vancouver to make that work - maybe include Shenn as well?
