Getting miller and Chychrun without losing pettersen or zucker would be a huge win.
Do we have the cap space to do that though? Getting mcginn and Blueger off the roster enough? - buckster2342
Blueger, McGinn, Rutta would total 7.7m
Miller (50% for this contract not the extension) and Chychrun total 7.225m
It is possible however extremely unlikely |

It hinges on one of them taking Dumoulin IMO. If Hex isn’t even trying to unload him then none of this is or probably even should happen |

I see it more as unloading cap for next year and beyond so I say Rutta over Dumo. That and the whole NTC thing with Dumo. |

Well the problem here is that if Hex isn’t trying to unload Dumoulin, then he’s stapled to the first pairing, in which case you obviously have to trade Petterson if you get Chychrun because he makes too much to be a third pairing guy, which he’s way over qualified for. At that point I don’t have interest in spending the assets necessary to get Chychrun because we’re not getting that much better and the forwards remain unaddressed. |

Well Ek says the pens are in the lead for Chychrun so I guess he's going to Carolina. |

I’d respect it honestly. Hextal dinking and dunking into not getting fired is kind of funny to me. Every trade deadline just make one move to say you’re doing something and then blame goaltending when Jarry inevitably gets hurt |

Two potential spin-offs from #LAKings / #CBJ trade:
1. Do #CBJ try to flip Quick before deadline? (#Leafs goalie insurance? Quick's brother-in-law is TOR's Matt Moulson)
2. Do #CBJ attempt to package assets/picks to take a swing at #Yotes Jakob Chychrun? Told that's possible.

Werenski - Boqvist
Chychrun - Jiricek
That would be a pretty nice young top 4 |

So AZ ate part of Kanes cap to go to NYR for a 3rd rounder?
And they're paying Shea Weber.....LOL how are they even a franchise? |

Isnt part of the asking price for Church a 2024 1st and a 2025 1st? Im not so sure I want the Pens giving that up...could very well be lottery picks. |

12.6 mill cap space needed for Chychrun and Miller....where is it coming from? I think Petts would definitely be gone if we get those two.
I just feel we're going to end up getting players no one really has discussed, like other years hahaha - MattStrat

Realistically? Probably not, but I just don't see a way out of Carter as 3C unless you acquire someone specifically for 3C purposes and shift Carter to wing. Just gotta hope he retires this offseason lol
I think it'd be a better line than McGinn-Carter-Kap though.
But Sully is going to give him those defensive zone draws/assignments no matter what, so I'd rather load up the wings around him.
I'd rather try to get a PPG player like Miller and push guys down the lineup. Maybe we get lucky and Zucker wants to stay so he signs a team friendly deal, who knows. - j.boyd919
For sure that would be better.
DOC was playing 1C in WBS, maybe try him there if they can't get anyone. Have to assume if they were playing him there in WBS, they think he can play the position. |

Those picks won't make an impact on hte Pens until Crosby is retired even if they pan out. Thats a big IF those picks even make it to hte NHL. I read the Wild now have the G JR picked up Gustafson in the 2nd round is just now making his NHL Backup debut...IDK if Church is that good or not but if they need to move picks go for it. |

I think if you’re getting Miller instead of pushing Zuck or Rust down you put him at 3C and push Carter either to wing or just make a plug line with him as 4C and hope either Puustinen or Nylander can hold down 3RW. |

Yeah I get that but someone posted a tweet from Tayler Hasse yesterday stating that with Kap gone they really had 5.5 mill in cap space, even though Capfriendly says right now that the deadline space is 2 mill....so if that 5.5 were true....and no one claims McGinn or Friedman, which I think will be the case, what are we at then? around 7 mill in space? if so, another about 5.6 mill space to go for those two.

Yeah I dont care THAT much about picks...but lottery ones I do more so. If I thought the Pens were definitely going to be playoff contenders the next two seasons after this one I wouldn't even bat a lash at this.

, the Penguins already had cap space to take on $1.9M in cap hits as it is, with the potential to grow to $2.1M by the March 3 trade deadline with banking cap space.
The moves today could potentially get the Penguins close to the $5.5M in space range.

Don't have to look that close. Players will be added or subtracted and sent to minors. Friedman for example was always going down because they weren't keeping 8 D. Important part is a 3+M salary was already moved. |
